Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I like how this is going so far.Tatis: infield singleTatis breaks up a possible DP with a nice slide. Two out walk to ReyesChavez singles in a run.Wright doubles in two!WOOTOOTOOTILYDOO!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Tonight we're driving in the RISP we left out there yesterday. The O seems to have some cahnfidence.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Hope you're all voting for Mr. Wright to make that All Star game, cuz If Burrell gets voted in ahead of him for that last spot I'm gonna hurl.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I was driving home from the library listening to the game on my wife's XM radio.Phillies announcers are horrible. Now, I realize that they're all homers. But this was lame banter. When Tatis got his hit, Larry Sorenson was all over him for his "tired act" after hitting the home run, saying he practically somersaulted around the bases."If a guy did that against Nolan, he'd be in the hospital."Then, after Chavez's rbi, one of the two said that it was his ninth. And Sorenson says, "9???" making fun of him for having only nine rbi.I was almost longing for Joe Morgan.

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Oberkfell at first looks like he's thinking to himself, "I can't believe this is Pedro Martinez, standing right here next to me, talking to me."

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Rout on! Two out RBIs make me happy.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I LOVE how this is going so far 8-0And thats all for Eaton.Phils phans are boooooooin him so loud you should be able to hear it at home Edgy.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 We have a nice opportunity here to burn through their bullpen before the Cardinal series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Hey, once you drop your dinner you no longer have to feed the dog.Considering the defense they're getting tonight, the Phils would be better off with Trooper Dobbs at 3rd
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Just watched all the wonderful video highlites on Gameday. Two plays that can easily get overlooked were (1) Tatis hustling down the line and going hard into Rollins after the diving stop Utley made on Schneider's hard shot and (2) the nice piece of hitting Schneider did to get his bat on a pitch low and way outside with the hit and run on. It's great to see the Mets hustling and playing aggressive baseball.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Pedro scoring from second on a single. He almost seemed to be off with the pitch.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Utley smacks HR # 25.Can't let these guys get back into this. It's only the 4th and the Phightin's can explode offensively.Chase supposed to be involved in the All Star Home Run Derby. He has this little snappy swing, all bat speed. Not really a HR type swing.I can only hope the derby messes up his swing for the rest of the season.(I actually like and respect Mr. Utley very much, and hate to say that ^, but if it helps the Mets make a run for it, tuff Tatis's)

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Pedro tonight has been both awsum and erratic. At times: great control, hitting spots to perfection. At other times: looking like bad-Ollie.Only two hits and 3 walks for Philly, but if your watching you know what I'm saying. He threw a lot of pitches that inning, but gets out of it with minimal damage.Nice K on Coste to end it.How long does Pedro go?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 On the radio earlier, Hagen (Hagin?) was talking about Rollins playing deep on the outfield grass and as he moved in - to the dirt I'm sure - he said that Rollins was now on 'the skin of the infield'.I've never heard that term. I like it though. Anybody?

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I was channel surfing after the end of the last half inning. On the YES network, Ellis Valentine is batting. They're showing the 1977 AS Game.(Rollins bluffs, doesn't go) Utley still up.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Here comes another past future Met: Willie Montanez.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 To answer my own question, Ill take Pedro on an inning by inning basis unless he gets in real bad trouble. Limit him to 120 pitches, but I'm old school, doubt they let him stay in that long. He's currently in the low 90's.Phils broadcasters over the first few innings have built a pedestal of praise in regards to Martinez's career and his chances of making the Hall Of Fame.Very respectful. This Utley at bat is most important.HE RINGS HIM UP!
