Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Dusty's already said that Phillips and Griffey will sit tonight's game with minor dings.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Wow, that's eight total bases from game one.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Damn good chance we'll see Castro make his 2008 debut today.I was half hoping they'd let Sosa pitch the last three then heartlessly DFA him after game one to activate Wise, who has been with the team.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Let's Go Mets!!!A doubleheader sweep would be great.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 A question for those watching the game, was Endy's bunt a straight sacrifice or was he trying for a hit? I truly hope Willie didn't have Endy bunting just to move Reyes over to third. It makes no logical sense to be sacrificing and playing for a single run this early in the game, Reyes can score from second on virtually any hit, so there is no need to give up an out just to move him ovber to third.Edited to fix my mistake concerning the game score.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 He was credited for a sacrifice b/I think he was trying for a hit because it was a drag bunt.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Got a sparse crowd here at Shea.Guess peeps didn't hear the news or couldn't make it the next day

But who knows whether he was ordered to sac bunt Reyes over to third and decided to execute Randolph's command by drag bunting, rather than drag bunting on his own?The real screwup in that inning was Alomar's decision to send Wright home on Beltran's double - Wright was out at home by more than one whole footstep. You couldn't see this from all the replays but on the initial live action feed, Griffey had alredy released his throw to the infield and when the camera then cut to Wright, he hadn't even reached third base yet but was clearly not slowing up to stop at third base either.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 On the dugout, some heckler yelled at Griffey that he should be here at Shea as a Met!Best line of the night so far
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 SJR -"Got a sparse crowd here at Shea."Sparse crowd here in the 'pool.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 The Mets aren't making Arroyo work hard enough. He's pitched 6 innings with only 84 pitches. Pelfrey on the other hand threw 106 pitches to get through his 6 innings, so now he's done and it's up to the bullpen to hold it in hopes the offense can rally for the victory.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 This is embarrassing. 24 runs in the last two games, they're facing a pitcher with a thousand ERA, and they can't hit him. This afternoon, they looked great. Tonight, they looked like the team that did you-know-what, you-know-when. Maybe things would have been different if Alomar held Wright, but I doubt it.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I kinda thought sending Wright was dumb and it may have been a turning point.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 RD - "...now he's done and it's up to the bullpen to hold it in hopes the offense can rally for the victory."Well, that didn't go very well. The bullpen was a disaster as Sanchez and Wagner gave up as many runs as the got outs aghainst the Reds. The offense sputtered along without a single hit in the final three innings, but they did strike out six times. I'm losing faith in this team pretty rapidly.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 These games are getting tougher to watch....I've already said it but although it may be cosmetic Willie needs to go..Personally I've about had it with Omar and his hunches on players ala Burgos.Long way to go..but they look like a second division team..more the pity.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I had the feeling when I saw the pitching matchups that Willie was going for the split today. It's disappointing that the team didn't go for the kill this evening after spilling so much blood this afternoon.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
