metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Bad news indeed , who gets the bulk of the playing time now?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I scream to you, Sandy Alomar, Jr.! But you listen not.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Where's that thumb been I wonder? It was his right wrist/arm that got smacked the other day so that's not it.Castro's been playing down in PSL but I doubt he's ready yet.

Maybe for a day or so it could be Brady Clark; he's due to be replaced by Alou soon anyway.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Oh great.Wait, if his thumb hurts so badly, why'd he play last night?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I called it... Brady's been DFA'ed.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Are we now criticizing players for playing hurt?

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Weren't there reports a few years ago that Saddam Hussein was working on engineering a virulent thumb virus?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Don't they have a medical staff around these guys constantly? How does a thumb cut get so bad that it's infected without trainers monitoring it every day?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Reportedly there was no cut and the source/timing of the infection remains a mystery.
Guest Mr. Zero Guests Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Five days in the hospital with a thumb infection? Drug resistant staph maybe? Have open heart surgery and they send you home in 3-4 days.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 ]Schneider has been in a New York hospital since last Thursday with an infection in his left thumb and has been treated with intravenous antibiotics. Minaya said Monday that Schneider did not have a staph infection and that his swelling had not been lanced, but he revised his report Tuesday.Acknowledging his lack of medical sophistication, Minaya said doctors told him that Schneider had a mixed organism infection caused by normal skin bacteria, and that, while it was partly associated with staph, it was not the more serious kind of problem usually associated with a staph infection.Source NYT.
