Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Castillo not making good on his threat to start today. Keith and Gary are bringing it to you from St. Lucie.Fernando Martinez is in center as Beltran continues to DH.Oliver Perez going for New York.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Two-strike, two-out double by Jay HGHibbons.Scores on an Aubrey Huff single to center. Martinez's throw was a rope but it was offline and Cancel couldn't handle the hop anyhow.I get the impression that Perez is going to be maddening throughout his career. His delivery is so off-balance that it makes it un-repeatable. And he can't really correct it because he appears to use his falling off-balance to generate either his velocity or or the leverage for his movement.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Yeah. I'm not entirely convinced that, if Perez leaves the Mets next winter, that we'll be all too upset about it.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I'm also not convinced that if he goes 16-8, 3.15 that we should blow the bank on a four-year $66 million dollar deal.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Guys who get traded tend to get traded. I'd put him up there on the Most Likely to be Traded This Season list.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 "No, I'm no Angel" Pagan," sitting out today, to be interviewed in the next half inning. Tune in now.Cancel is a whole lotta ballplayer.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Angel.Happy to be back in the organization.A lot of guys are taking the injuries as an opportunity, so he's taking nothing for granted.Minaya never told him that he had a good chance to make the club. (Church makes a diving backhand catch at this point.)Pinella is a great manager and enjoyed how he played because he plays hard.He wants to keep working on his hitting, particularly from the left side. (Ed: His career stas interestingly enough suggest, though he may be more comfortable from the right side, he's more successful from the left.)
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 What is it with us and fat catchers?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 It's an occupational hazard that goes well beyond us.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Jose Reyes --- not fat --- pulls a triple to right center.Fernando Martinez plates him with a single. Tied up.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 So when do we stop worrying about Alou being hurt because his backup is Martinez?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Watching the replay. Heilman looked super.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Pagan knows what to do with that meat.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 ]So when do we stop worrying about Alou being hurt because his backup is Martinez?]When will Martinez be ready?Do keep in mind that this kid won't turn 20 until after the coming season is over and that he has only 350 ABs above the Low-A at this point. If he's even a semi-regular by mid-'09 we'll be WAY ahead of the game.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Delgado's spring: 0 for 5, 5 strikeouts.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Front shoulder flying open on every swing.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Maybe we can trade him for Coco Crisp.
