metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 i like the symmetry with jay satan welcoming johan santana
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I had a thread ready ,lucky I checked before I posted, Johan's dad Jesus will attend as will Wright, Willie, Omar and Jeff.Luis Castillo says that when he got traded Johan was so pissed that they both talked about it in the locker room and Johan told him he wanted to play for the Mets. So when Luis gets to Shea he tells Minaya about what Santana said. The day Santana got traded he called Castillo with the good news.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Set your TiVo or VCR: SNY coverage will start at 1:15 p.m.I've yet to see or hear Santana being interviewed. Does anyone know how good his command of English is?

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Johan's English is more or less fine. It's a pretty educated family and I imagine he learned English when he was still in Venezuela.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I didn't even know there was a losmets.com. Omar to the podium. White shirt and some kind of off-white tie with a black pinstripe suit. Looks like a gangster or something.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Not that we didn't already know this, but, jeez, Omar just cannot talk.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Johan to the stage. White, pinstriped #57. Blue lid.Nice.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Shea Stadium patch on the right arm looks good.Johan flanked by Omar and Jeff Wilpon on this right, Willie and David Wright on his left. There are less flashbulbs when Britney's flashing her nekkid hoo-haw. Lots of peeps with cameras crammed in that room.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Omar.]"Everybody I talk to in baseball, they say you've got Johan Santana - congratulations

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He's wearing the pinstripes. Excellent.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 G-Fafif wrote:="A Boy Named Seo"]Johan = clich machine.Johan speaking in bromides > Glavine being articulate.I agree with G-Fafif: my first impression is that Johan came across as a real, human bean. Glavine, in contrast, was neither "devastated" or "disappointed" at a nadir in his career, showing that he was incapable of real, human emotion when it was expected.

Just letting peeps without the benefit of radio or TV know they weren't missing a thing beyond seeing the dude in his new shirt for the first time.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I can't see it here at work, how does this rate compared to Pedro's intro or Beltran's for the excitement factor or for bigness.
