metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 They say the SAG awards are a good indicator for the OscarsDaniel Day Lewis won best actor.Julie Christie won best femaleJavier Bardem - best supportRuby Dee - Best supportNo Country for Old Men won Best movie even though they don not call it that.I saw Josh Brolin on Charlie Rose recently....what an insufferable twat he is, like hey I'm a serious fucking craftsman now..
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Day Lewis and Christie were both extraordinary. I got no problems with those two winning the Oscar (would be the second one for each).

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote:Most critics savaged 300. Why should I go?.Because, first of all, I think it is a foundation-shifting film that may well alter the basic paradigm of filmmaking the way that JAZZ SINGER, GONE WITH THE WIND, EASY RIDER, THE GODFATHER, BLADERUNNER and THE MATRIX did. Secondly, most critics who DID savage it did so more for thematic (i.e., political) reasons than aesthetic ones. There were also a core of critics who praised it highly.
