You might figure his ticket to greatness is half-punched, or at least a third-punched, right? But --- while there are some fine players there, the only Hall of Famer comes in at number ten.

Harlond Clift's nickname: "Darkie."

So called because a teammate originally thought his name was "Harlem."

Way to go.

I'm giving David Jacqueline, the model from Project Runway, as a gift.

Early evidence suggests that David Wright may be the dorkiest date since Gary Carter first rapped on Sandy's door.

On the other hand, it doesn't really matter, does it?

Jacqueline:

She's the model who says she's a big Mets fan.

She came in 2nd place rocking this zexy outfit in week 1:

Then Marion got aufed by making her wear this terrible potato sack:

Victorya and Ricky nearly came to blows over the controversial "Underwear as Outerwear" outfit:

The only player on that list who played defense at a major league level was Duke Snider.

Eric Chavez has several gold gloves (and even deserves them)

So does Scott Rolen now that I read the list more closely.
Pre-injuries he might have been the best glove at the hot corner since Brooks.

Of the others, Ralph & Dicke Allen certainly weren't winning any gold gloves, and Bob Horner was exactly graceful either.
I remember Jim Ray Hart but not enough about his defense to make a judgement.
Hank Blalock is OK but nothing special.
Don't know about the rest.

Darkie Clift was also one of the best fielders of his era. His 50 double plays and 405 assists in 1937 were records until Graig Nettles broke them in 1971.

Besides his lousy nickname, he had two of the more notable career-interrupting injuries, an extended bout with the mumps and a fall from a horse.

Hey, David -- Beer me.

Baseball Prospectus had this to say about DWright's counterpart in DC. Not sure I agree with the last sentence.

Ryan Zimmerman's raw stat lines have been held down by his home park, RFK Stadium, which just killed power, especially right-handed power. Zimmerman's home/road splits do not reflect this gap: he's slugged .501 at RFK in his career, .435 on the road, but a guiding principle of performance analysis is that an individual's home/road splits, even over two years, do not mean that player isn't being affected by his home park. We know what RFK did to run scoring and power, and moving to a new park should enable Zimmerman to convert some of his doubles to home runs. Throw in development -- he's 23 this season -- and you have the recipe for a breakout. David Wright might well have been the most valuable player in the National League last season; Zimmerman will be a better player than Wright in 2008.

"model Molly Beers" flew over my head and is rolling around on the warning track.

Ok, so color me slow ... there is no Molly Beers on the internet (at least
no super-model). Anyone?

Had I known, I'd have asked Jackie.

99 - "I have the sudden urge to pound some Beers."

Classic. I would have never suspected thoughts from such an innnocent looking guy.
