Whoa! That's going to put a crimp into his plans for next season.

4 counts of perjury, 1 count of Obstruction of Justice. I don't have a source other than the electronic casefile website of the Northern District of California. (The indictment's public record).

Associated Press. We have bulletins that flash across our screens in the newsroom.

That's really freaking cool, MGIM. I gotta get me one of those.

Now I see the breaking news thing on Yahoo Sports. I imagine this ends his career - who wants to sign a guy who might go to jail during his contract?

I would have loved to see the look on Bonds' face when he heard.

My prediction is that Barry says to MLB, "If I'm goinna go down, you're coming with me."

I was thinking of the smirk being wiped off his face.

Maybe he's got a smirk or two left if you two are right.

I just don't like him, haven't since Pitts days when he was a skinny smirker.

I'm trying to understand the Government's perjury case here.

-In 2000 Bonds tested positive on a steroid test.

-When questioned about it in '03, he said he was unaware of it - "I've never seen those documents before" - and had had no knowledge of the test.

-He admitted taking the cream and the clear but denied knowing they were steroids.

So are the Feds saying that he lied about knowing that the cream and the clear were steroids because he knew that he had tested positive on that test?

Or are they not questioning his knowledge about the cream and the clear but saying that he lied about taking and knowing the results of the steroid test?

Anybody?

What a sad situation this has become.

Let's take a look at the major players:

1. Barry Bonds: the player who cheated, then refused to come clean. He exaggerated the negative feelings through his attempts to portray himself as a victim and his adamant denials.

2. The Federal Government: As bad as Bonds is, those who are calling this selective prosecution seem to have a point. Why is Bonds being singled out? While it's true that none of the other guys lied under oath, none of the other guys were forced to testify. Why not investigate Sosa or McGwire? Why let Palmeiro off the hook after lying to Congress? I can't help but think that they are going for the sensational story here.

The way I see it, if the Federal Government is going to get involved, prevent future use of steroids. Make sure every player that takes the field in 2008 is clean. And if you're going to investigate past use, the guy who hit .230 using steroids should be investigated just as much as the new HR king.

3. MLB: For sitting back and letting all this happen while reaping the benefits. That was bad enough. But now, to feign shock and disappointment, to suggest the use of an asterisk, baseball deserves this black eye.

All of these guys deserve each other. I hope this becomes a big giant mess where none of them come out unscathed.

wrong. Giambi, Sheffield, and others testified. they didn't lie. they aren't indicted. if bonds hadn't lied under oath he'd be getting away free like sheffield
