Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I heard Willie started his subs in the coinflip.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Yankees won both of theirs. Steinbrenner paid through the nose for the top coinflipper.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Cardinals not being included in the wildcard flipping and the Braves being left out completely seems weird.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 this is sort of easy to file under dumb things that MLB hasn't fixed just because it hasn't come up on the "things to fix" list. Coin filps? After 162 games, that's the best you can come up with? How about head-to-head record? Intradivisional record? Run diffferential? Total balks? Give me something.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 agreed.my list would look like this:To break division ties:1. head to head record2. record vs. division opponents3. record vs. NL teams4. Run Differential5. coin flipTo break wild card ties:1. head to head record2. record vs. NL teams3. Run Differential4. Coin Flip
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I'm OK with a crazy game for all the marbles, just use such tiebreakers to determine home field advantage.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 They did this already?I don't mind the coin flip itself--its just they do it so prematurely. They should do it right before the game.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Well, they have to book the stadium, hotels, flights, tee times, hookers, etc.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 In deference to the crazy New Yorkers who tune into Keith Hernandez, tiebreakers should be determined by a few rounds of Johnny on the Pony.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 How about a Home Run Derby to decide the winner? Each player on the roster, including pitchers, gets one swing. Most home runs wins. How great would it be for a fluke home run by Guillermo Mota to decide a playoff spot?
