Willie never quits when he's ahead: you got a great inning out of Mota. Fantastic! Now get him out of there before he reverts to form. Instead, he leaves him in and the inevitable ensues. You knew it was gonna happen but the manager didn't. Of course, he'd say, if he was being honest, "who should I put in?" and that's a fair point but I'd take my chances with a fresh Sele than a second inning of Mota. Omar must love Mota because it looks like we're gonna see him in October... if the Mets get that far.

When Romero got Delgado out and started fist pumping did anyone notice Carlos staring at him...I thought he was,not that it means anything...

Come now,you can't sign them all...

What do we need Romero for? It's not like there are any huge lefthanded hitters in our division that we need to get out in a big spot.

Oh, wait.

He was released by the Red Sox and blew two leads last week alone.

Enough with the wound-licking already!

Habit, I'm guessing. Both the thinking and the watching.

Just like Game 2 last year.

I disagree. If anything I prefer to send a guy who has a good inning back out there for another one, because who knows if the next guy will have his "stuff" or not that night? better to stick with the guy already pitching well (barring a reason like lefty/righty matchups or a clearly better pitcher like wagner replacing mota or something)

edit- i disagree with the bmfc post that elster just quoted, didnt realize it wasnt immediately above.

I'm going to tentatively agree also. Unless you're going for matchups, stick with the guy who is performing as long as you can. For instance, Glavine was on, and whether Feliciano was as well was an unknown. Feliciano replaces Glavine and the shutout ends.

If you want to hit Willie, hit him for not getting good matchups. Felciano got tagged by a righty, and Mota by a lefty.

Nobody looked good on that throwdown that sent Victorino to third, but I sure wish Castillo looked to knock the throw down.

That throw changed the game right there, not a good throw and Castillo seemed to be in two minds as to what to do,Phillies are playing with a lot of energy right now.

I think it was obvious Castillo re-hurt his knee on the takeout slide earlier in the game (and he reacted poorly to that, refusing the help of Helms whose slide was completely legit). He was limping around the rest of the night and completely ineffective.
