Mike had his breakthrough year in 1977 with Jackson. He might have been close (certainly in retrospect), but his 3-3 record at Jackson, his Pepperdine career and second-round pick status weren't enough for "Baseball Scouting Report."

Roy had debuted in 1975 and played a full season in 1976.

Hints:

One guy was a pitcher who may have been a better hitter.

Only one guy, besides Allen, had a long career, and won a championship.

One guy hung up his cleats in the minors and became an actor, but didn't kill his girlfriend's cat. Eventually he quit that also and became a priest.

One guy, during a particularly awful year, was part of a zero-homer staff at his position (not pitcher) for the Mets.

One guy forced the Mets to cirumvent big-league rules.

One guy never played for the Mets ,debuted for the Yankees, resurfaced later for the A's, but never played for Billy Mertin. Which is good, because he never did a thing for either team, despite having a cool cowboy name.

Roy Lee is what we call a "good guess." He's also a guy who I hinted may have been a better hitter:

Jackson Todd seems a pretty inexplicable oversite for this journal, as he went 13-9, 2.91 for Tidewater in 1976, but discluded he is.

Ed Glynn had debuted with Detroit in 1975. That's an Undeniable Ed Glynn Fact.

Kelvin Chapman (sorry about banjaxing your post) had only played a partial season at the Rookie level in 1976.

Sorry, brother, we cross-posted. Pacella was the fella that the ticket-sella hoped would get the Mets out of the cella. He also forced the Mets to circumvent the rules in building a bullpen screen so the TV cameras wouldn't catch him warming up without his hat.

-- Sadly, I used to study those Mets yearbooks, and the "future Mets" pages. I remember that Rich Folkers always seemed to be on those pages! He migh thave the record for most yearbook appearances vs actual major league appearances.

2)A guy who made it to Tidewater before failing to become the first Venezuelan Met since Elio Chacon.
3) A first-round draft pick who only played one season in the bigs, with Atlanta.
