bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Today's lineup makes me think of the weekday game against the Cubs when they made the fantastic comeback.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Aside from Beltran's absence, this lineup really doesn't seem all that different from what we've been seeing lately.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 Yeah, you might argue that it's their best possible lineup, except that I'd prefer Anderson over Easley. Castro playing instead of Lo Duca isn't exactly much of a sacrifice.

Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 ]Today's lineup makes me think of the weekday game against the Cubs when they made the fantastic comeback. Not at all. That game featured no Wright, Reyes or Beltran. Easley instead of Anderson is I guess a lefty/righty thing. I think this is the best we can expect vs. lefties. Hope the Nats don't throw any at us.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 You gotta believe though that Willie would prefer a RH-hitter at second, not to mention in right field. This kinda depth makes me think they'll go get Conine so as to replace Franco (Anderson replacing Newhan).
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 Blue caps today, solid white jerseys.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Going by Transmonks data the Mets have a 500 W% at home wearing that combo.White Jersey w/ Blue Cap - 4 wins, 4 losses, .500 W%
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 John Travolta is at the game, wearing one of those weird Mets pre-game practice caps. Robin Williams is also in Travolta's box.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Howie said that Robin Williams and John Travolta are filming a movie at Shea today. He said it was called "Dog Days"--it's "Old Dogs":http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0976238/

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 Stupid "Your Season Has Come" commercial on SNY shows a kid watching with his dad as the Mets win the 1986 World Series, and then that same kid, now grown up, watching the 2007 Mets with his son.But in the flashback scene, the kid is wearing an all-black Mets cap as he watches Jesse Orosco strike out Marty Barrett.Ugh. It's bad enough that they wear them now. Don't mar 1986 with black caps!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Confession: I really enjoy the Aflac goat commercial.

He's off to Cooperstown.I just learned that August 9 is "Mets Shoelace Day" and the gang from Sesame Street will be at Shea to celebrate. They really must be running out of ideas.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Couple of tough shit hits against Ollie there.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 Big out as Sanchez foul pops to Delgado.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 Another foul pop, this one a terrific running catch by Gotay who then turns and throws a bullet to the plate to keep the runner on third.
