I don't even know what to say here.
I never liked the signing from the beginning but that was more a case of not liking a 3-year committment, not that I thought a guy with at least a decent track record, and one that at times was quite good, to collapse like this.

So between the money and the hope that he'll find himself again, they're not going to just cut him. Also, as a vet he'd have the right to refuse a minor league demotion, and you wonder if a short-term demotion would have any beneficial effects - aka: The Trax Factor - although if Rick can't help him ...

Obviously, like Trax, he'd clear waivers on a demotion.

It's not my frustration with Schoeneweis. Obviously, he's trying. The guy had cancer and bombarded himself with double doses of chemo to miss as little baseball as possible, so he's apparently got heart.

It's not my frustration with Minaya. I didn't like the signing any more than anybody else, plus it seemed goofily out of context with what Minaya was doing, but it's done and you've got to look ahead.

My frustration is with Randolph. He's seemingly trying to redeem the guy by getting him out there in some high-pressure spots --- and therefore get some positives for him to build the next 2.5 years on --- but we're losing some games in the meantime. It seems obvious he needs to be downgraded (below Sele, and below Blake Eager if necessary) until he can shake up his shit.

Let's not fuck around with experimental situational bullpen usage at this stage while our batsmen are scratching.

We can find another lefty somewhere else. That Flores punk who closed out for St. Louis yesterday had a yielded a .357 batting avearage to lefties going into last night.

Good thinking. Williams is rehabbing at New Orleans and gave up three runs in five innings in his first start. He goes again tonight against Craig Brazell (21 homers!), Justin Huber and the Omaha Royals.

I'd replace Schoeneweis with Williams in a New York Heartbeat. That three-year contract can get in the way, though. We can be pretty sure that the earliest they'd release Schoeneweis would be around the middle of the 2009 season. But I'd certainly expose him to waivers to get him to New Orleans. Or Kingsport.

I don't know, his lefty/righty splits are just as lopsided, which leads me to believe there's hope for improvement and maybe Willie needs to really use this guy in specific situations, almost exclusively against lefties (on the road apparently), which I think was the book on him anyway. Edit: He still needs to cool it with the walks either way.

Well I think they have used him in some blowout spots and like Edgy said, in some tight spots looking to give him something positive to build on, when maybe he should be coming in as a LOOGY for a while. Righties apparently torch him no matter the score so no more righties, I say.

Not really what the Mets were paying for, but probably the best way to maximize his ability if he stays around.

Exposing him to waivers isn't the problem. I'm reasonably sure he could refuse a minor league demotion just based on seniority - although maybe he'd agree to some sort of short-term fix-up with a specific recall date.

I agree that he's got to be used as a more lefty-specific guy. Willie kept insisting in the Spring that - when his sinker is right - that he's capable of facing either although recent years stats don't seem to agree.

Those L/R splits are hideous, but at least make sense. The H/R splits defy any logical explanation.
