Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 No, not Swoboda. Our remaining World Series guy played in two Fall Classics with the Mets.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 1.2. Benny Agbayani (48th place)3.4. Felix Millan (60th place)5. Wayne Garrett (63rd place)6. Robin Ventura (67th place)7. Ray Knight (69th place)8. Bobby Jones (73rd place)9. Frank Viola (75th place)10. Rey Ordonez (76th place)We're left with two guys. One was a teammate of Ed Kranepool, one was not. Neither ever played a postseason game with the Mets. One set an important Mets club record. One set a quirky major league record.

Kingman's been the Man of the Day 14 times.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Thing, do you have any interest in posting the all-time list from 1 to 815? I have an interest in reading it. The above poll piqued my curiosity. And other cool stuff like who has the most daily wins. I wish I ran your website.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 ="Elster88"]And other cool stuff like who has the most daily wins.Okay, since you asked. Keep in mind that daily totals have only been tracked since April 2003. If I had been tracking them since the UMDB's inception in early 1999, Mike Piazza would probably have a much higher total. So, to a lesser degree, would Tommie Agee and John Milner. (They would have received the "death benefit" that Donn Clendenon, Tug McGraw, Rod Kanehl and maybe a few others did.) Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Even more surprising is that Brian Daubach has won three times and Carlos Delgado hasn't even won once.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Great stuff, thanks YSG. How about a popularity ranking from 1 to 815?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Brent Gaff, currently in 412th place, got his first daily win yesterday, thanks, I'm sure, to Keith Hernandez talking about him in the SNY booth last night. The last time I had checked, late yesterday afternoon, John Maine had a healthy lead in the afterglow of his home run. So Keith assists Gaff in stealing one from Maine.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I was just going to ask who the fuck Brent Gaff was after browsing UMDB.What did Keith say?

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I once discussed Brent "Willy" Gaff with Steve Schryver (who was Mets Director of Minor League Player Development.I may have posted it before. If not, let me know. I'll tell you about what we said.Later
