No time to do a proper KTE (after forgetting to do one at all when the Mets were in San Francisco).

These 2007 Giants resemble other recent-vintage Giants teams. They’re too old, they’re too slow, they keep guys around for a long time who other teams would have jettisoned. What is different is that they are collecting some pretty good starting pitching.

The Jints are currently 24-25, four and-a-half games out of first after losing three in a row at home to the frickin’ Rockies.

Here are your 2007 starting lineup Giants:

C: Benji Molina (4-30-.314). Another pretty good year for the best of the Molina boys. Allegedly, the slowest player in baseball.

1B: Rich Aurilia (2-18.231). Whose bright idea was it to turn over first base to this career shortstop/third baseman? Giants have fond memories of when he was good – he isn’t anymore. Ryan Klesko might see a start vs. El Duque.

2B: Ray Durham (4-29-.261). Durham is coming off a 2006 season where he hit really well and stayed healthy. This year he hasn’t hit nearly as well and hasn’t been nearly as healthy.

3B: Pedro Feliz (6-21-.256). A study in mediocrity.

SS: Omar Vizquel (0-12-.233). Still flashes the leather, just not the lumber.

LF: Barry Bonds (12-25-.275). You might have heard of this guy. He’s pretty good.

CF: Randy Winn (3-17-.313). Having a good season, has been on a tear of late.

RF: Fred Lewis (1-8-.271). A rookie in for the injured Dave Roberts. Had one big game, hopes to have another one.

The matchups:

Tim Lincecum (2-0, 3.08) vs. Oliver Perez (6-3, 2.54).
Should be a great matchup. Lincecum can really bring it, has 25 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings.

Barry Zito (4-5, 4.70) vs. Tom Glavine (5-2, 3.39)
Lefty matchup. I’m sure all Met fans are happy that Barry is enjoying his time in San Francisco.

Matt Cain (2-4, 3.23) vs. Orlando Hernandez (2-1, 2.13)
Cain has been the victim of shoddy run and bullpen support. A good pitcher who walks too many batters.

Ex-Met factor: Armando Benitez (remember him? He was our closer? Yeah, before Looper.)

Ex-Giants: Moises Alou (who may be activated sometime during this series but mebbe not.)

Fun fact: Barry Zito and Barry Bonds are the only Barrys in the Major Leagues.

Should be an odd series with the home fans booing Bonds and perhaps getting the chance to cheer Mota(if he's activated and gets to pitch).

A lot of unknowns. Mets who could come off the shelf for this series: Alou, Johnson, Mota.

Lincecum is amazing. 98-MPH heater out of a pretty small dude and exploding junk (one of my favorite baseball terms/sexual euphemisms). His minor league numbers are completely and utterly ridiculous.

Must-see TV tonight.

Man that's some sorry looking line up the Giants have. Their pitches have to be good in order to win. Hopefully Bonds will continue to struggle long enough for the Giants to leave town.

I of course pulled those numbers from the UMDB in the first place.

Wouldn't have though he'd still be behind Mays (Mays only played 10 yrs. against the Mets) but Bonds' years in SF were with 4-6 extra teams in the league and the 3 divisions, hence fewer games despite having 5 more years.
