Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 The Mets being behind right now makes the Dicks Sporting Good ad with the Guido Yankee fans exclaiming "It's about...doin'...what it takes...to win!" all the more annoying.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 (edited) That's also the bunt he got ripped for not doing last October. Edited May 24, 2007 by Guest
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Well, this was Smoltz's night.I concede,...I do concede.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Seriously, is there a meaningful difference between last October's bunting stiuation and tonight's one? Down by two, no out, first and second, a fast trailing runner. The main difference I see is that Willie had the ninth guy up in October (and swung away with the pinch-hitter) and had the eighth guy up tonight. There's more than one way to look at it, but I'd say tonight's game had more of a reason not ot bunt, as (1) they had one more slot to clear before the order turned over and (2) the whole left side was open for Gotay.
Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Ed Coleman was just on WFAN and he said that Willie had called off the bunt but Gotay missed the sign twice.
