It's just that Bonds is a risk-free target.

Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Glavine draws a walk....bases are loaded with Metropolitans.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Mets have done nothing but hit the ball hard this inning.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Glavine pitches out of trouble in the seventh. He's at 105 pitches. Likely Heilman and Wagner from here.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I love watching Bonds at bat,he rarely swings at a ball he can't hit,and I love how the Mets just pitch to him, great eye at the plate. After the game Glavine got the buzz cut,Sele has a family portrait today on the beach with his family so he was excused(prolly do it after),Reyes says he'll do it on the off day in NY.Rick Down and Ray Ramirez got it too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 I'm a boy, I'm a boyBut my ma won't admit itI'm a boy, I'm a boyBut if I say I am I get it
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I didn't know about this.]SAN FRANCISCO -- Just because Carlos Beltran was back in the lineup Monday did not necessarily mean all had returned to normal for the Mets' centerfielder. The day after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts, Beltran made his left quad muscle sound more like a lingering problem."It's stayed the same," said Beltran, who had an MRI last week in New York and was scratched Sunday because of the sore leg. "But late in the game, it gets tight, and afterward, it gets tight. I take anti-inflammatories to make the swelling go away. But the thing is, the only way for it to go away is to stop playing. If it doesn't continue to improve, I'll take time off and let it heal."Beltran was bothered by his quad muscle in 2005, his first season with the Mets, but this time his performance doesn't seem too affected. He is on track for another MVP-caliber season, and was batting .320 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs before last night's game.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 If that's the case, I wouldn't object at all to the Mets letting him sit out the Milwaukee series. With the Thursday off day, that would give him four days off in a row, interrupted only by potential pinch-hitting duties.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I was at this game-- took the ferry over, then walked to the stadium. Stopped by Gordon Biersch brewery for some garlic fries (a SF tradition and WAY better than you can imagine) then took in the game with an old friend and former colleague....12th row seats behind the Giants bullpen-- only $40 on craigslist!--$8 beers, but they were pretty good (Biercsh)-- they have an excellent assortment of food at the park: from Orlando Cepeda's BBQ to authentic Mexican churros and sushi...Tons of Mets fans, very good to see. Lots of beautiful people, too, which was a nice surprise.Reyes looked awesome, Delgado not so much (did he get old overnight?)Cool promotion: if you are in attendance when Bonds homers, you just need to present your stub at a Giants Dugout Store to receive a commemorative pin-- I was there for 745 (or whatever number it might have been). a bit of a homage to the coveted pins that were awarded to those brave souls who stayed for the duration of extra-inning games at Candlestick ("I came, I saw, I survived" say those momentos, in Latin, of course)...Trying to convince the Mrs. to go with me today-- any advice on getting her to accede? She's a Mets fan, but today IS our anniversary (9 years).
