Carlos Beltran also had a strong month, and finished second in the overall voting. April's Pitcher of the Month is John Maine. This is the second time that Maine has been the Mets top pitcher. He also won the coveted prize in July of last year. For the first time ever, the Schaefer awards and the National League awards are in perfect alignment: Reyes and Maine were named, respectively, the NL Player and Pitcher of the Month for April. Well they did go through the effort of awarding Schaefer points to all those players on all those other teams in order to conclude that they don't match up to our guys.

In my mind Maine and Reyes scooping both the Schaefer awards and the National League awards help validate what I am doing voting here every game.
