Game 3 of the I'm In Denial World Series moves to Big Shea, where the Mets will attempt to break a 1-1 series tie with Tigers.

In Detroit, a well-rested Orlando Hernandez went 11 innings and David Wright busted out of a September slump with a 12th-inning HR as the Mets defeated the Tigers 3-2 in Game 1, but the Tigers evened the series at a game apeice when Kenny Rogers and a foreign substance defeated Tom Glavine and a Questec Machine 2-1.

Tonight the Tigers throw lefty Nate Robertson against John Maine. Jerry Seinfeld will throw out the first pitch, and the New York Dolls will reunite to play the National Anthem. First pitch is 8:19 on your local FOX station.

Funky but chic. If you're really in denial, Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan will be there.

Well, Wright he was slump-mired
But El Duque's arm was tired
Twelve innings was a whole lot to expect
David waited for the right pitch to select
And now he has Zumaya's full respect
We're talking baseball...
Reyes on the bases
Talkin' baseball...
Detroit fans' falling faces
Another homer robbed by E Chavez
Leyland's love affair with Neifi F. Perez

Carlos Beltran, whose dramatic 2-strike triple won Game 7 of the NLCS against the Cardinals, said the Mets will have confidence playing in front of their home fans.

"They never turned against us, even when things looked bleak," he remarked.

Anderson Hernandez is expected to start at second base for Jose Valentin, who died while attempting to stretch a single into a double in game 2 Sunday.

I'm suspecting a dramatic surprise start at second by Julio Franco, his first appearance at the keystone since 1997 with Cleveland.

If we're fantasizing, it's a day game, work is canceled and through the miracle of quantum physics all 300 million Americans will be able to fit in the front row at Shea.

What the hell. While we're fantasizing, Tommie Agee is throwing out the first pitch...

Who's going? Once they decided that all registered members of the CPF get press passes, I assumed that we would all be there.

The Mets will bat around twice in the first inning

LOL - I was thinking the same thing. I was waiting for someone to pull out, "And once more, on a glorious baseball afternoon, Willie Mays' glove will be where triples go to die"

Wow, and it looks like Willie's move to place Petey on the WS roster has paid off! WFAN now reporting that Pedro's bullpen session yesterday went so well that the trainers have cleared him to start tomorrow night.

And the Daily News confirms:

"I haven't seen Pedro look this good since 1999. His fastball sat at 93 and he was topping out at 97. As for the rest of his pitches, they've still got that nasty, late-breaking movement. With a mid-90's fastball to offset his off-speed stuff, Detroit's going to have their work cut out for them." - Rick Peterson

"I feel good. I told the Carloses today, 'Take the day off, guys! We don't need you tonight,' then I ran around the dugout with a garbage can on my head. Seriously, have you seen Ramon's head? It's huge." - Pedro

I can't make it tonight, but I'll be there tomorrow to cheer Petey on.

Let's Go Mets!

the sad thing is I actually had a ticket for Game 3 tonight. Looking at it makes me depressed, because I could be on my way to Shea right now. I guess it's a collector's item, just like the '85 playoff tickets that were printed.

At least I won't freeze my ass off now.

Id keep it.
Stick it away.

Might be a pricey momento of a non event,....but still.

I'll always remember seeing a fully uniformed Carlos Delgado receving the Roberto Clemente award during Game 3 of the World Series at Shea.

Actually as long as we're dreaming can we go back and not put Trevor Hoffman into the All-Star Game?

Make it Game 1.

Nope, I'm a plan holder, I automatically get the money credited when I renew my plan for '07.

How kool is that?

Not as 'kool' as you think. Who do you think gets the interest on that money from now until they credit it back?

Not the ticket buyer.

Yeah, well, the ticket's memoribilia value --- either to the holder or the e-bay shopper has to cancel out some of the value of five months' interest on $150, no?
