Let's not ruin that with the aftereffects of an emotional, wrenching loss. We all come together on this forum for good-natured discussion about the Mets and other things. But at the end of the day, we've all got lives to live. Let's keep this in perspective. We've all got family, friends, and obligations. Those are far more important than the outcome of a baseball game. This is devastating, yes. But we shall live to fight another day. In the meantime, we've gotta get our acts together and remind ourselves that this isn't the worst thing that could happen to us. Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 what a game, what a series, what a season, what a team. For the most part, what a swell bunch of people to have hung out with; the REAL Met fans. The ones who bruise blue and bleed orange.Losing will be a sore spot for a lil while , I imagine. But we were here watching our team when most fans teams were also home watching these games.Bring on 2007!Lets do it again!

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 A great game, despite the ending being wrong.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 ...watchin hightlights. The first strike/pitch to Beltran--that was the pitch. He took it-- cant blame him if that was his gameplan--take til a strike..But that was the pitch he coulda KABOOMED.Hey-such is baseball. Such is fate.So it goes.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 You guys covered everything nicely in the IGT.For the historical record, I'll add that Endy got two curtain calls after that catch. First one had required some serious coaxing from Julio Franco to get him out. Both unfortunately probably occured during the commercial breaks.I still am a big Aaron Heilman fan. The crowd did a good job, still rising to their feet for the 2-strikes on the next batter, still cheering, with no booing as the inning ended (the typical Shea response to an inning like that). It's less than four months until pitchers and catchers report. I'm going to need most of that time to get over this past year.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 As dissapointing as last night was, I will never, ever forget Endy catching that ball. Absolutely fucking amazing. And after we loaded the bases in the ninth, and Beltran strode to the plate . . . The stands were literally rocking. Yes, it was heartbreaking but it was a glorious game.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Last night, Yadier Molina became this generation'sMark David Chapman. With one shot, he killed the hopesand dreams of millions. Now, Mets fans can only"Imagine".Yeah, I'm bummed.Later
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 You say stupid, inappropriate things quite a bit MFS.

So this analogy came to mind. Ask any Brooklyn fans how they felt when their team was taken from them, and I'd bet the analogies they use would be comparable- that their hopes and dreams were crushed. Later
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Mark David Chapman assasinated somebody.Yadier Molina hit a homerun.There's a difference.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Good game in a memorable series. Endy Chavez had the chance to have one of the greatest innings (top AND bottom) in the history of playoff baseball. He came through in the top (the catch) but couldn't in the bottom. Time to start the "days until pitchers and catchers" clock.Wait 'till next year.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 ="MFS62"]Wait 'till next year.Which nobody said after Chapman killed Lennon.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 No. When I typed the first one, I was (obviously) very emotional. By the time I posted this:]Time to start the "days until pitchers and catchers" clock. Wait 'till next year. I had cooled down, and am ready to move on.And, you mean you've never used hyperbole? Isn't that an "outrageous" stretch?I don't want this to deteriorate into something for the RLF.Let it be.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 It doesn't have to deteriorate.Own up one of these days. Most everybody else does.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I have said "I'm sorry" many times on this board.OK, my comment was over the top.Sorry.Later
