Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Personal UMDB memory: first time I saw it was a random google looking for Met stuff. The first thing that caught my eye was the pictorial starting lineup that the box score were accompanied by.A couple years later I was looking for that site again to show my buddy "I saw this really cool site that had the starting lineup in pictures but I can't remember where the heck it is."
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I ran into it first time in 2002, I guess. Bookmarked it 1st thing. Maybe even prior to that by a bit, but used it alot while researching for that 25th anniversary Met card set in 2002. Probly already had it bookmarked by then.Thats when I ran into all these sites-UMDB, Cranpool Forum(must hv been the old one-looked different), Mr Whithams great photos, and Mets By The Numbers (I think I made an entry at the UMDB under Tommie Agees Met memories.Never could find it afterwards tho.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks, but I have a picture of player Bobby, and the policy is to picture them as players if they're one of the 799 (and counting.)I did the same with Willie Randolph, Gil Hodges, and Dallas Green. I have a circa 1965 photo of Yogi Berra, too, although I can't be sure it wasn't taken after he had moved from playing to coaching. (It probably was.)Funny, I don't remember the Mets winning the Stanley Cup. I pay little attention to hockey, but even I probably would have been aware of that.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I thought that was the WC trophy....good policy btw.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Careful, soupcan. Remember what happened to Jack Paar.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Yes ,the Water Closet Trophy the Mets won in 1999,Yancy can you post a list of players with no pic, thanks.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Sorry, MFS62, Jack Paar was definitely before my time. I was born during the early days of Johnny Carson's run.But that doesn't mean I don't know about Jack.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks Yancy, I have a few hours to kill at work, and Val has a whole off-season to kill...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Damn I thought I had one...Mauro Gozzo
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 If someone scanned in a team picture, could you use software to cut out and enlarge an individual player for the UMDB?Seems to me some of those guys shold be in at least one of the team pictures.Later
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Enlarging usually results in too great a loss of clarity.I have been able to get some of the pictures by scanning team photos from yearbooks, though.I think most of the missing guys are midseason aquisitions who weren't around for the team photo as printed in the yearbook.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Not sure if you want to use this one of Alvaro Espinoza
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 AGAIN, I appreciate your desire to help, but small and/or blurry photos are of no use to me.(See my first post in this thread, on page 1.)
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 If that's what Espinosa looked like, maybe you could use a head shot picture of Jose Valentin instead. They're both members of the Porn Stache Club.Later
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Humber hasn't actually pitched yet, so I don't think we'll be finding a game shot until next season.Ledee hauling assAgent Mike DiFeliceNOT the UMDB needed one, but here's a Bob Gibson in a Mets uni, just for kicks.Rick WhiteDonne Wall, who's eyes you can see if you squint a bit.Maybe later I'll do a bit more digging.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 You stopped paying attention at the end of the season. Humber pitched twice.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 OO, Blue caps only or helemts.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Does nobody pay attention to the blue hat rule?Yancy, I have some tiny, blurry, black-hatted pictures of everyone on the list. (Even the guys from the 70s!) I'll e-mail them to you as one enormous zip file.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 metirish wrote:OO, Blue caps only or helemts. For some players, blue hat just isn't a possibility. While the black caps are ugly, it's better than nothing.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 That Ledee is most likely the best out there.
