Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'll be Mezzaninein' (sect. 21, row B seat 17).
Guest KC Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 We should hoist one to the orange and blue!
Guest Giant Squidlike Creature Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Squid's watchin' from the Worlds Fair Marina.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Game 1 will be the first playoff game I've ever attended, in any sport, ever. Upper Deck Box, 1st base line.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'm there tomorrow with my poncho in tow.

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 We should all get together and exchange beard grooming tips and beer. They won't let me into the Soupcan section so I suggest y'all climb the stairs.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Are there any beard grooming tips that involve beer?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 To those of you who may be planning on keeping your beard, don't buy a cheap beard-trimmer. My first one was about $20 (because I was still iffy on whether or not I'd keep it) and it tugged painfully at my face. My second one was a $50 model (I read the reviews on Amazon.com) and it's much nicer.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'm happy to go slumming - where and when?
Guest KC Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I've been shaving, but I have bushy eyebrows. We'll figure out where to meet and when in the morning.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'll be there. Mezz 12, Row A. Blue hat, keeping score -- if you want to say hi.It's likely to rain but perhaps only towards the end of the game. They'll get it in I think.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Anyone recollect any official, rain-shortened postseason games. It's in the rules but I suppose the losing side would be mighty pissed.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'll be there too. Mezz 17, Row G. Can't wait!
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Game 1: Loge, Box B. Let's not even discuss what I paid.Game 2: Upper Deck Deck Reserved, but in a decent spot.
willpie Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'll be at game 1. Upper reserved, section 36 (I think. Maybe 34; somewhere down the 3rd base line).
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 On Channel 11, Mr. G says that the Mets will get their games in. They may have to deal with scattered light showers, but they will be able to play.
Guest KC Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Mr. G smiles too much ... from weather.com (Flushing, NY): Rain likely with a few thunderstorms. Low 63F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I have tix for Game 2. Anybody know when they'd play on Friday in the event of a rainout these next two nights?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 It would be an afternoon game, because the ALCS is scheduled for Friday night. It would either be at 1 or 4, I'd imagine. My larger concern is in what that would do to the Mets pitching rotation, as noted in the NLCS rotation thread.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I don't think that's correct YSG. They've scheduled them concurrently tonight (the "regional" game on the main Foxy channel and the other on FX).The reason the Mets had a possible 4pm start was because the MFYs might have also been playing.Ha!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 ]It would be an afternoon game, because the ALCS is scheduled for Friday night. ... It would either be at 1 or 4, I'd imagine. Not neccesarily. Both games today are at 8PM on a "split national" format; your "market game" on the FOX network with the backup on F/X. A double game Friday could very well work the same way.FOX went to this for the first Game1/Game2 conflict a few years back based apparently on the assumption that even games competing against each other is better (for ratings and such) sticking one in the afternoon - although why they don't choose to at least slightly stagger them (8:00/9:30 starts maybe) is lost on me.They won't do that for a potential Game6/Game7 conflict next week - but by then it frequently doesn't matter since one series or the other is over.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 i was under the assumption that it would be Friday afternoon because the travel day would be lost, and they would not play Friday night, travel, then play Saturday night. Similar to the Yankees last week playing thursday afternoon, then traveling and playing in Detroit on Friday night.I was more concerned about whether it would be at 1 or 4...there are work scheduling issues to deal with.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 That's true; I hadn't thought of that. I was remembering that the Yankees-Tigers makeup game was played at 1 p.m., but in the Division Series there were four sets of teams playing and now there are only two.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 There's a 50% chance of "showers" at 8:00, rising to 60% at 9:00, then a chance of "rain/thunder" holding steady at 70% from 10:00 through 3:00 a.m. I have a bad feeling about tonight. I'll be pissed if we can't get the game in. We'll be relying on our bullpen an awful lot, and losing a day's rest will really hurt us. Plus, it will mean that Carpenter pitches Game 2 on Friday instead of Game 3 on Saturday, which means he can start Game 6 on regular rest.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 My wife, who pays far more attention to weather than I do, says that weather.com tends towards more dramatic forecasts, and she has more faith in the forecasts from the National Weather Service, which doesn't have a cable channel to lure viewers to. The forecast at http://www.weather.gov is a lot more mild.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I'm just happy if there's an 80% chance of:Thunda!Thunda!Thunda!Thunda!Thunda!Thundastruck!
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Tonight, i'm going to be in Upper Box, section 34, towards LF. Since I'll be closer to the rain than the rest of you, i'll let you know when it hits.
Guest KC Guests Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Anyone have any preferences for a place to meet for a pre-game beverage?I'm in the loge outfield, I think. There's a pretty open space behind home plate on the loge with plenty of stands close and it's kinda central to thewhole ballpark? That would be Sec 1 and 2. I plan on getting there early, is7:30 too early for a toast?I've resigned myself to a wet and cold night, bring it on Mother Nature.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 btw, an [u:be53f6cfde]east wind[/u:be53f6cfde] generally means a bad hitters day at Shea. That's the direction the open end of the stadium faces.
