Why we need Floyd for the post-season. He can hit a splitter.

Steve, you, of all people, should know moderating is light-handed around here.

How about this one? No Billie Joel ballads before, during, or after the game?

Who was it who said that he'd pay for a video of Paul LoDuca's greatest tantrums?

I want that video too!

Cliff Floyd going down and tagging Salomon Torres' splitter last night in the ninth may have been the most encouraging thing because (a) a hot bat from Floyd is the coolest thing, (B) we've seen (in '03 and '04) when his legs are falling apart, he can still keep his swing going, but mostly © Torres' is a pretty good analogy to Mariano Rivera.

More disappointing was Jose Valentin not turning around to bat righthanded against Torres, as he did against Rivera. As it was, Torres ate him up batting lefthanded.

Torres, by the way, is a great story. He was a shuttle/fringe from 1993-1997 with only one decent season. He spent 1998-2001 in retirement, taking a part-time gig coaching Expos prospects in the Dominican. I assume he learned that splitter during that time, because he came back to the Bucs in 2002, and has mostly been a badass ever since, while pitching a ton of relief innings --- a Tekulvean workload.
