soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 So many people are calling in to the radio saying that as Mets fans they don't want to face the Yankees in the WS for fear of the badgering they would get if the Mets lost. This I do not understand. You can't beat the bastards if you don't play them!Bring 'em on I say!
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I don't want to play the Yankees. Revenge would be sweet, but as nice as 2000 was, the season left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd be just as happy seeing the Yankees go down in flames in the NLDS and the Mets beating the Twins, Tigers, A's, or whoever in the World Series. That would make for a nice winter.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 The Yankees are almost certain to hoist the championship trophy this season unless there's some fluke in the postseason. Let the fluke happen in the playoffs if it's going to happen, I say.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 They're all just grass before the siclkle.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I want the MFY and to beat them in five....
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 That's the spirit irish. Can you imagine how sweet it would be to take down the Yankees in a World Series?! I don't think words could describe it.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I don't want the Yankees to win anything including the pennant.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I'm an A's fan. Mets vs. A's is my dream and my nightmare.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Nothing would ever come close to beating the MFYs, but I dunno if I can take what happened in 2000 again. How about gettin' revenge on the A's for '73?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I wimped out and picked the Twins. The Twins are my favorite AL team.Thrashing the Yankees would be sweet, but frankly, they're the best team in the AL right now. If we make it to the WS and they're not in it, I'm not going to shed a tear.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Tigers, Tigers, burning bright, never going to make it through the American League but if they do we'll kick their ass.I don't want drama; I don't want tension. I want a short series that ends with a Mets parade. That scenario never, ever, ever includes the Yankees. Ever.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I voted the Tigers. I like their ballpark and their home uniforms.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 I have much more cahnfidence with this Mets team to slay the yanks than I had in 2000,we can slug with the best of them....fingers crossed on the starting pitching...who would your DH be,I kinda wish ramon Castro was fit as he would give us better options when we play in the AL park.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 though beating the MFYs would bring me to orgiastic ecstasy, the thought of losing to them makes me suicidal. On the other hand, common sense says to pick the team with the weakest pitching, and that might actually be the MFYs (especially if Rivera is hurt). the Twins have great pitching, the A's are pretty good, the CWS and Tiggers have problems but have some quality too. I'm just not frightened of Randy Johnson, Wang, Cory lidle or Moose. Yeah, the MFYs can bang, but so can we. I actually like our chances in that matchup. so screw it. Bring on the Yank-mees!
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Playoffs? Too early to be scared about the AL. But there are some scary teams over there. No doubt about it.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I didn't see "none" as an option.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Are you hoping that the AL Champion decides to forfeit the Series?

I think that is what Yancy is trying to point out.
