Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I don't think so, I think it only affects that particular series, as it'll clearly be the Central Winner vs. West Winner.Shouldn't be a TV issue either, as FOX has already designated Twins/Tigers vs. Yankees as their primary series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The only thing is screws up from a TV standpoint is that it shoves all 4 games onto Wednesday and the whole skip-day series (the one that goes Tues-Thurs-Sat) was designed to avoid just that. But I don't see how they can wait until late-day Monday to decide that the NYM-v-WC has to be swapped to the Tuesday start.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Newsday is guessing that Wednesday's game will be at 4:]Mets open Wednesday NEIL BESTOctober 1, 2006The elimination of the Phillies from wild-card contention yesterday resolved the issue of when the Mets will begin their Division Series - it will be Wednesday, probably at 4 p.m. - but not their opponent, which will be the Dodgers or Padres.Assuming ESPN chooses the Yankees' ALDS game against the Tigers or Twins for its prime-time slot Wednesday, the Mets will play in the 4 p.m. slot that day on ESPN, then host the Dodgers or Padres in prime time for Game 2 on Fox on Thursday. The other NLDS, featuring the Cardinals or Astros against the Dodgers or Padres, figures to begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN, with Game 2 at 4 p.m. Thursday, assuming neither is shifted to an 11 p.m. slot to accommodate the West Coast home crowd.Game 3 of both NLDS will be Saturday, with game times and networks to be determined. In the American League, the Yankees will host the Tigers or Twins at 8 p.m. Tuesday on Fox and probably at the same time Wednesday on ESPN.That would leave the ALDS featuring the Tigers or Twins against the Athletics for 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday on ESPN and probably Game 3 at 4 p.m. Friday, assuming the Yankees play in prime time again that night.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Uh boss, I need to get my ass to Shea because the only other time the Mets are playing is when I have two classes at night...What do you mean don't come back Thursday? (GULP!)Sure he'd be fine with it, but on late notice...hmmmm...I may have a problemo!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Times for game 1 & 2 confirmed:Game 1: Wednesday 4:00 (4:19 first pitch)Game 2: Thursday 8:00
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 FAN just reported that Game 1 will in fact be Wed. at 4:09. Game 2 Thurs. at 8:19.The Yankees will have prime time games on Tues., Wed., the Thurs. What a shock. (rolls eyes)
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'm actually ok with the 4:00 start. We'll get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'd be really pissed if I was an Oakland fan.10:00 AM? You've got to be kidding me.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I just think it was nice of cleon to chime in and share his thoughts following the 2nd (or is it the 3rd) time he's sworn off this place and exited in a hail of snarling insults.

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Also Game 1 of our series is on ESPN (And simulcasted on CW 11 (aka WPIX aka WB11) here in NY) and on FOX Thursday night.Thankfully so far NOT on TBS! Speaking of which, the TBS announcers aren't going to be Braves announcers are they? Pete, Skip and Don all have their October off right?Boy that would be fun to watch if the Braves actually made it. Brave postseason games on their network sans their announcers!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 The only TBS game is the potential one-game playoff, Cardinals at Houston, which would be Tuesday.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 4 PM, thank god.An early afternoon game would've meant updates from my cell phone.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I had forgotten about the contract change. In 2006, however, the playoff games are exclusively on ESPN (or ESPN2) and FOX.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Shoot. i was hoping the game would be at 7:00. Well, I'll make it work!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 TBS isn't part of the post-season package until 2007, and I think their reg season (Sunday game) might not start til '08

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Despite Trevor Hoffman's best efforts (2 solo homers allowed in the bottom of the 9th to let Arizona bring it to 7-6) the Padres win, so we face the Dodgers in the first round.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Good,should be a great series.
