Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Peninsula Pilots get a mention. I regret never getting to see them in my Virginia days before the franchise moved to Wilmington.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I also thought Perez was a bit unlucky tonight ... at least for a while anyway. A bunch of infield hits which weren't scored errors but were plays that could have been made, plus there were more than a few bloops falling in here and there. He's still got to find the plate more often and continues to have a hand in digging his own grave, but his acquisition has always been more about next year than about this year anyway. He's going to be a project.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 5 earned runs in the last 7 innings sounds good.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 The announcers mentioned during his first at-bat that Green came into the game with a big lifetime o-fer against the starter. Once I saw his first swing, I knew that was true.Man, he took some ugly cuts against the guy. He wasn't even close to the ball.I still feel the Mets can be very vulnerable to decent lefty pitching.Later
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I kept listening to the game even after I signed off of the laptop for the night. Somehow the concept of prayer came up. I had a lot of fun listening to Gary describe davening to Keith.Keith - what would a Jewish player do?Gary - Daven.Keith - What?!?!?!Gary - You know, like what Leo Mazzone used to do in the Atlanta dugout.Maybe it was due to the late hour and my general lack of sleep this week, but that totally cracked me up.The other thing that struck me was when they were talking about the post-season roster rules, and Gary was explaining that the Mets have one assistant general manager who is in charge of knowing all of these technical rules and keeping them straight. My reaction is that now I know what MK should be when he grows up
