Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 The Mets have never swept a season series from the Rockies. They won 5 out of 6 in 2004, and lost 5 out of 6 in 1994.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Francis can be a pretty good pitcher at times and this pitching matchup could go against us if Perez gets all wild again (although we did managed to get to him last time)
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 In fact, the Mets have never swept a season series against any National League club, so there's a chance at history tonight. (I visually scanned this page; perhaps I missed something.)The only time they were swept in a season series to an NL team was an 0-6 against the Giants in 2002.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Didn't the Mets sweep the season series against the Cardianls in 1999 or 2000?...I think I read that when they were in town recently.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 At least Delgado is out. I'd really like to see Lo Duca get some time off, or he more likely will get time off in October.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Mets up two zip, reyes scores on a tag from third and Freeman in CF made a great throw but Jose still beat it,Wright with a solo home run,David is back.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 After Reyes scores on Beltran's sac, Mr. Wright hits a nice opposite field homer to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Guest vtmet Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 ESPN should not have the rights to MLB games...they are advertising the Mets game on ESPN2, yet they haven't started showing the game yet...their piece of crap college football game hasn't gotten over yet...Best team in baseball not on the air so that I can watch Boston College versus CMU...I don't even know who CMU is, let alone want to see this crap...only in football, can 6 minutes last over 1/2 an hour...and it's still has 1:22 left.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Perez is struggling in the first. It's now 2-2 with runners on first and second and nobody out.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Now the Rockies have the lead for the first time in the series, up 3-2 with two on and one out in fhe first.Perez isn't going to last long tonight.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Green catches a long fly ball to end the inning, and the score is 3-2 Rockies after one complete inning.
Guest vtmet Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 finally got the game...in time to see why Perez was available...
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Perez hurts his own cause, bunting into an inning ending double play in the top of the second.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Whew! The pitcher's best friend gets Perez out of a bases loaded jam unscathed!
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 It's now 4-2 Rockies with two on and one out in the 3rd. Oliver is going to be replaced by Oliver before the inning is out.Make that 5-2. Ugh
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Man, Perez has nothing. He can't throw a slider near the strike zone and his fastball isn't much better. When he does finally get a fastball over the plate the Rockies lace it for a single. Even the outs seem to be recorded on hard shots.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Through three innings, Perez has thrown 85 pitches. As we've learned, the average number of pitches per inning is between 16 and 17. Chances of Oliver Perez pitching a complete game tonight: remote.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Perez is hitting for himself? WTF?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 As Keith says it's called a 17.5 game lead in the division...
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Perez struck out, but Reyes' 2-RBI double brings the Mets back to within a run!
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Runnin' Reyes steals 3rd. I hear a "Let's Go Mets" chant in the thin air.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 After giving up a 2-run homer to give the Rockies a 7-4 lead in the 4th, Oliver is finally pulled.Oliver comes in from the bullpen.I'm sure Willie regrets not going to a pinch hitter last inning.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I bet he doesn't. He took a gamble knowing the Mets don't really need to win this game and he could keep his pen rested as long as possible and probably would stand by that decision.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Is it too late to ship Perez back to Pittsburgh, or at least Norfolk.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Willets and Scarlett look so much alike they could be twins. It's hard to keep track of who is who around here sometimes.
