Guest KC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Delgado knocks in the Mets 100th first inning run of the season scoringReyes. Beltran got up with two men on and had a chance for his 100thrbi if he hit a dinger. 100's all around.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Milledge goes 1st to 3rd on a Pedro bunt.He was running on the play and just never stopped and beat erd baseman Blum back to the bag. Nice hustle play but it was kinda close and that's one of those 'yabettermakeit' plays - esp since there were two out at the time.He came in on Reyes's 1B which may not have scored him from 2nd.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Guy Conti rocks. He gives good interview.

Thnks for the details.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 The Mets are abusing Piazza with the stolen base, Valentin steals second after bringing Wright home for a 3 to 0 lead.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Piazza homers to make it 4-1, the crowd gives him a curtain call!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Pizza with a home runa nd the fans go wild and demand a curtain call...Pizza takes a bow....WOW...I have never seen that.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I think Pedro intentionally spotted him that homer out of respect.(SC= ahh--50ish)
Guest KC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 mi: >>I have never seen that<<<Doubt we will again. NIce inconsequential opposite field home run - it'slike they're following the script to a tee.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Piazza with a monster hone run into the picnic area.....
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 OK, Piazza owns Pedro like he owned Clemens. If we face the Padres again in October, we need to keep that in mind.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Ricky Ledee on deck to hit for Pedro...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Lastings strikes out and hears some boos, Pedro back to the mound.
Guest KC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Eeeire how SNY zoomed in 100 (Pedro's pitch count)
Guest KC Guests Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 So, we're in the 8th and two men on (Martinez walked two, and he's pulled)and Piazza is up looking for number 3.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Thankfully, Piazza just barely missed a third homer that would have put the Padres ahead.I'd rather bring in a lefty (like Wagner for a 4-out save) than walk the go-ahead run on base here.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Moot point. Walker pops up, side retired.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Come on Wags, 2 outs, no post HR jitters like this guyThe fellow who replaced you in Houston
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Come on, I don't want to see an ex-Met up!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 So a great night all round, Mets win and Piazza hits two and gets booed, perfect really.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Pedro giving Piazza lots of respect in the post-game interview....very cool.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 From the AP.....]Martinez stepped off the mound and tipped his hat when Piazza first came to bat. Piazza responded with a similar gesture of respect -- remember, they weren't so friendly a few years ago when Martinez nailed him with a pitch while playing for Boston.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 What Jason said.I was really torn when he was at the plate against Heilman. That swing, that look in his eyes... I really thought it was gone, and I was really torn. In the end, though... Mets win and Piazza homers twice!! I'm totally down with that.
