IGT 7-30-2006 Mets go for the sweep in Atlanta

We walked on the beach beside that old hotel
They're tearing it down now
But it's just as well
I haven't shown you everything a man can do
So stay with me baby
I've got plans for you

This is the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever
These are the days
To hold on to
Cause we won't
Although we'll want to
This is the time
But time is gonna change
You've given me the best of you
And now I need the rest of you

Did you know that before you came into my life
It was some kind of miracle that I survived
Some day we will both look back
And have to laugh
We lived through a lifetime
And the aftermath

This is the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever
These are the days
To hold on to
Cause we won't
Although we want to
This is the time
But time is gonna change
I know we've got to move somehow
But I don't want to lose you know

Sometimes it's so easy
To let a day
Slip on by
Without even seeing each other at all
But this is the time you'll turn back and so will I
And those will be the days you can never recall

And so we embrace again
Behind the dunes
This beach is cold
On winter afternoons
But holding you close is like holding the summer sun
I'm warm from the memory of days to come

This is the time to remember
Cause it will not last forever
These are the days
To hold on to
But we won't
Although we'll want to
This is the time
But time is gonna change
You've given me the best of you
But now I need the rest of you

Songs that start IGT's are supposed to inspire some ass kicking, not some
toilet bowl grasping thow up ...

Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat with a baseball bat
Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh- oh
What can you do?
What can you do?
With a brat like this always on your back
What can you do? (lose? )

LOL. Everything I know about Mojo suggests that post-Stranger Billy Joel songs, particularly the same lame ballad two days in a row, spells "lengthy trip to the disabled list" or something worse.

We must win in spite of Billy.

However, you MAY NOT change the insipid song lyrics, nor alter the thread title, in an attempt to "undo" the dark spell cast. We're just gonna hafta overcome it.

]One!-Two!-Three!-Four!-Five!-Six!

Roadrunner, roadrunner
Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive past the Stop n' Shop
With the radio on

I'm in love with Massachusetts
And the neon when it's cold outside
And the highway when it's late at night
Got the radio on
I'm like the Roadrunner

Alright...

I'm in love with modern moonlight
128 when it's dark outside
I'm in love with Massachusetts
I'm in love with the radio on
It helps me from being alone late at night
It helps me from being lonely late at night
I don't feel so bad now in the car
Don't feel so alone, got the radio on
Like the Roadrunner
That's right

Said welcome to the spirit of 1956
Patient in the bushes next to '57
The highway is your girlfriend as you go by quick
Suburban trees, suburban speed
And it smells like heaven
And I say Roadrunner once
Roadrunner twice
I'm in love with rock & roll and I'll be out all night
Roadrunner
That's right!

Well now...
Roadrunner, Roadrunner!
Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive to the Stop 'n' Shop
With the radio on at night
And me in love with modern moonlight
Me in love with modern rock & roll
Modern girls and modern rock & roll
Don't feel so alone, got the radio on
Like the Roadrunner
O.K., now you sing Modern Lovers!

(Radio On!)
I got the AM
(Radio On!)
Got the car, got the AM!
(Radio On!)
Got the AM sound, got the...
(Radio On!)
Got the rockin' modern neon sound!
(Radio On!)
I got the car from Massachusetts, got the...
(Radio On!)
I got the power of Massachusetts when it's late at night
(Radio On!)
I got the modern sounds of modern Massachusetts
(Radio On!)
I've got the world, got the turnpike, got the...
(Radio On!)
I've got the, got the power of the AM!
(Radio On!)
Got the... late at night, rock & roll, late at night
(Radio On!)
The factories and the auto signs got the power of modern sounds
(Radio On!)
Alright

Right, bye bye!

No disrespect to your teenage memories meant, and I'm fully aware that
there Billy Joel fans here and I don't mean to insult them either.

None taken, just stating a fact. It was hard to dance to.

If you're on the highway and the road runner goes "Beep-beep",
Just step aside or you might end up in a heap.
Road runner, road runner, runs down the road all day,
Even the coyote can't get in his way!

Road runner, that coyote's after you!
Road runner, if he catches you you're through!

That coyote's really a crazy clown.
When will he learn that he never can mow him down?
Road runner, road runner, never bothered anyone,
Running down the road's his idea of having fun!

Fun, fun, fun, fun!

Floyd scratched due to sore achilles tendon; Woodward in left and in same lineup spot.

Not happy news re: Floyd - that can nag and nag and nag and bark for weeks.

Delgado Kabooms the Mets to a 2-sniffle lead. Gee, first inning runs -
what a strategy.

Let go. It counts with or without you.

Braves are wearing their red softball jerseys. Heck, guys, act like you care.

Hard fought at-bat produces a hit for Glavine while the guy in the booth for Atlanta was specuatling that he'd whiff intentionally to get the at-bat over with.

Glavine isn't the non-professional. You're confusing him with yourself.

As Reyes hits, McDowell picks up the phone, presumably to ask Frank Cashen if there's any room for him in the Mets' system.

Bases loaded with Beltran/Delgado/Wright coming up... perhaps as daunting a prospect as there might be in baseball right now.

Well, it's not that daunting any more.

Everybody who has ever booed Beltran, please pinch yourselves.
