Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 OK, Wags, make it so.And let's get Endy Chavez in left also. Floyd ain't been gettin' around so well.OE: He's already there. Pay attention, Edge.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Mets win tonight puts them 13 ahead of Atlanta....Wagner strikes out McCann...
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Keiths exactly right-This game has unfolded and set up perfectly for Willie. (so far)Billy Ks McCann for out #1.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Gets a fly out from Francouer and LaRoche LOOKS at strike three!Good Game-Mets win 6-4!Pedro gets a win!Mets up by 13 games!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I am amazed how the guys keep talking about how this is a huge win for the mets, yeah after the first inning Pedro was brilliant and the pen was great but a huge win...I don't know about that...Willie looked pumped after the win....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Wow.We can dig at Wagner all we want, but lefties are now batting .114 against him.

Stay healthy. Stay loose.

Guest old original jb Guests Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I felt no pressure, no sense of foreboding, and no sense of threat from the Braves. I just didn't have any expectation that the Mets would fold or the Braves would rear up from out of nowhere. In fact the Braves seemed listless and defeated. Kind of like it used to be for another team when playing at Turner Field.....the Mets.

GB Streak Last 10Atlanta Braves 52 45 .536 -- W-3 7-3Philadelphia Phillies 52 46 .531 0.5 W-2 6-4Florida Marlins 48 50 .490 4.5 L-3 3-7NEW YORK METS 47 50 .485 5.0 L-3 3-7Montreal Expos 37 61 .378 15.5 W-4 6-4Mets got swept that night and drew 33,166 and 32,542 respectivly for those two games. If fans see a team as a pretender, even if management thinks its a pretender, they are going to treat the team as a pretender.

I still think this team has a lot of fight in them. They just may not have the horses to pull it off, but they've always managed to throw a 50-20 stretch in there somewhere whenever someone has counted them out. Too late for 50-20 I realize, but 35-10 would be hard to fight off. Stepping on their throats in game 1 just makes the odds of them getting off a run like that a little tougher.Tough to call a game w/a 12 game lead a BIG win, but it's a semi-big one because of the above and because Pedro shook off the dust and got off the deck.

Guest cooby Guests Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Just wondering, when did Andruw Jones start chewing on his teeshirts?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 This story's been told many times before, but when Cone was first in NYC and still relatively unknown he'd get invited to appear at Bar Mitzvah's and Temple by New Yorkers who thought his name was Cohen. He's also Irish - I believe he said it was originally O'Cone - and it's possible that the C-O-N-E spelling is one of those American corruptions of European spelling.

Endeavoring to up your post total is a good way to get asked to leave.3. It makes a mess of the threads and discourages others from participating. While you were throwing up 20 posts an hour, other people were leaving.4. Please contribute when you have something to add to the discussion. Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Not only did I see the video, but I saw the show when it first aired. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are staples in our household.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 With the best talk show hosts, their facial responses when they hear something (for example an "I can't believe what that moron just said that" face) are as funny as their one-liners. Jon Stewart is no expression. Do you know the specific expression I'm thinking of? It cracks me up every time I watch that youtube clip that I posted.
