metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 That was a monster shot, MVP ?, or is he a " comeback player of the year" candidate?( SC=100)
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I read his hurt knee was only bothering him when batting righty---so that may have been their thinking.Fools.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 More on Selma from Gary: His second start was a 13-K 10-inning shutout.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Lot's of good stuff coming from the booth tonight - Keith was definitely relishing talking about "clutch" hitting...
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 So how many Mets have hit grand slams in back to back games?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 LoDuca drops a foul pop leaning over the railing into the Red dugout. That runner got on base, and moved to second on a tapper. As Bradford gets pulled by Willie, LoDuca apologized to him. He also apologized to Pelfrey before for not blocking a wild pitch. What a nice man.I know Dunn and Junior are coming up, but did he really need to pull Bradford with a five run lead and two out? I guess if Dunn homers then it's a 3-run game.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I think we first heard "Looper" out of JB at this park last year.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Two words can sum up the stats we just saw on the Red bullpen: "they" and "suck".No wonder they made that gawd-awful Kearns trade.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Mets up 7-3 going into the 8th...Wright works out a walk to lead off the 8th

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 The Braves are up 10-1 on the St. Louis......through 5.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Freaking Braves are putting a serious on St. Louis - they are up 10-1...They have scored 61 runs in their last 5 games...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Keith...."anytime you have Jose Valentin hitting 8th that's making a statement"...Who would have thought anyone would have been saying that about Jose after his terrible start.

Moments before Keith was telling us Marrerro's sac bunt was an example of "the little things the Mets do to win." I was flipping between the Mets and MFY games on myu radio earlier. Waldman was on her knees over how fantastic Ponson was in the first inning, right until he let two guys on and surrendered a 3r HR to Sexy.

I remember mocking them on this very board for that commentary.I was wrong.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 ="Iubitul"]Lot's of good stuff coming from the booth tonight - Keith was definitely relishing talking about "clutch" hitting...Yeah, but he also shows a (possibly intentional) misunderstanding of what those 'sabrematricians' (he practically spits when he uses that term) are talking about when they discuss the concept of "clutch".

I was wrong.you were right. if we'd released him at the time i'd have to think he'd be unable to find an immediate MLB job and would have to hit at AAA for someone to get another shot.he's been hitting very well lately, but i think he's over his head and i pray that we look for a 2Bman (though not before we shore up the rotation) this offseason.edit- added quotation because there are now other posts after it and before mine
