metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I think we'll see him tonight, looks like he has a funky pitching motion.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Owens is coming on!prediction: he strikes out the side and replaces heilman who moves to the rotation. (ok fine its wishful thinking, shutup)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Holy shit Owens throws hard, Gary tells us Henry had hoped to go to Medical School........he got turned down all the time....
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Damn did I say Owens throws hard...the fans are loving it...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Owens has a 1-2-3 inning, congrats to him.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Mets lose but I bet MFS62 is a proud man after seeing his Henry get in the game......

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Just plain unacceptable. It's not hindsight when everybody SAID that Oliver should start and Lima should be in the 'pen. Not pinch-hitting for Oliver when he was leading off an inning was maddening.Letting Franco hit, even with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th, was maddening.Jose Reyes sliding into first, was maddening.Got the distinct feeling that Willie wasn't playing to win and the team wasn't playing hard tonight.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Sending Lima to the mound is essentially the same as waiving a white flag in my mind.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Re: mailing it in"Starting pitchers are Lima, Maine and Pelfrey..."Not a lot of mystery here, it's is a function of having 3 starters on the DL plus a DH."he sits Delgado, Floyd, Valentin and LoDuca againt Willis"With 3 games sked inside 25 hours he's sitting the lefty batters against a tough LHP -- and Castro had some good numbers vs Dontrelle.'Taking things lightly' wasn't the problem. The problems were:- Lima sucking ... but also getting some unlucky hits and ZERO help from his 'D' all at the same time- Very UNtimely hitting on our part: Castro whacks the ball the only time he's up withOUT runners on, same for Woodward; 1st & 2nd/none out in both 1st & 2nd innings and getting nuthin; etc.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Lima's had one unlucky inning hang him almost every time out.Unfortunately, at this point he pitches with a small enough margin of error that he can't dig his way out of a little bad luck.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Owens looked good in his MLB debut inning - although it'll help in the future if he can get his slider at least in the same zip code of the plate. Not gonna get by with a fastball only for very long at this level.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I just saw the Willis slam--YOW! (sweet swing tho).Glad Lima lost the yellow hair- thats all I can say about him-besides bye Jose.I saw the Reyes injury- hope he's okay.Ugly game.Lets play two tomorrow!
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 They said Reyes just cut his pinky finger, I'm sure he's gonna be fine. That "compact motion" leaves him somewhere between home and first base after every throw.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 In a hurry to cover first base is he? If he can get hitters out with regularity, then I'll bad to see him coming out of the pen. Just how hard was he throwing tonight?

He doesn't really extend his arm, but squats, drives, and brings it from behind his ear, but his follow-through is something else entirely.
