TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I'm here all alone in the bottom of the 4th...thought I'd start a thread to amuse myself.1-0 Mets...Maine 6 Ks and only 1 hit against through 4 IP.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Maine dialing up the heat today. He's hit 94 on the gun.The first three batters hit the ball hard, but only one found a hole. I was concerned. Since then, Maine has been impressive.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Mets have first and second no outs in the bottom of 4.Unable to convert as Valentin grounds into the 6 4 3 and Maine chops out.1-0 Good guys to the 5th.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Ronnie and Gary discussing how sometimes you give up the game and play for the next few.Amazing that they get it, we get it, and Joe Morgan's partner gets it....but Joe himself doesn't get it.I keep forgetting, that's not amazing, it's typical.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Maine completely loses it after 90 pitches.Walk, single, walk, walk.Tie game.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Jack Wilson swings at a ball that almost hit him in the eyeball and whacks in two runs. Dammit.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Didn't he fall apart in the fifth in his other start too? This is where Willie shoulda used the hook sooner. Where's Joe Morgan when you need him?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Oliver finishes the 5th with a K of Casey.Top of the order for the Amazins coming up down by 2.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Reyes leads off with a single and heeeeeeeeere we go, boys.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Weird bounce helps the ball go by a diving Dirty Sanchez.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Again in the 5th, first and second no outs.K for Beltran, pop foul by Delgado, 6-4 for Wright.0-8 with RISP tonight.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Floyd doing the anti-Milledge impression to end the top of the 6th with a nice sliding catch.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Chadford roughed up for 4 runs in the 7th.7-1 Pirates, 2 outs top 7.Feliciano in.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 That wasn't Chad Bradford but his evil twin, Brad Chadford!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I guess it's a good thing that last night, Willie set his sights on winning this game. The Mets need to find a reliable starter to go with Glavine, Martinez and Trachsel. The offense can't be expected score 6 to 8 runs every game.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Mets get leadoff batter on in 5 of first 7 innings.Only score 1 run. This team needs help.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 This was a goood night to go to the movies. Sheesh!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I think the Mets bullpen is catching whatever Soler had come down with. This team seems to be in a free fall since arriving at Fenway for the start of the series with Boston. They are not only losing, but most games they are getting embarrassed in totally one sided affairs. The All-Star break can't come soon enough.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Ugly. Pittsburgh's one of the worst teams in the majors. Willie needs to knock some sense into the boys.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 The Mets will miss the post season..No starting pitching in sight...

The Fish are too young I've joked about the 69 comparision but I don't see it in this year's Fish, the Phillies and Braves have all but quit on the year, and the Nats are a mess?We are making this postseason. How far depends on who comes here by trade, pickup, minors or whatever for Starting Pitching help
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 ]The Mets will miss the post season..No starting pitching in sight...That last part is a sentence fragment that completely contradicts your calls for Pelfrey.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 My guess is that the guy just likes to make noise, as he's campaigning for Pelfrey on one hand and declaring that there's no starting pitching in sight on the other hand. The Mets play poorly, he posts his grim declarations, full of bold and empty predictions, and almost never bothers to respond to anyone. Then he disappears for a few weeks until the Mets play poorly again and start his act over again.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Fair enough, but I've heard that excuse given for why we should have traded Kazmir. Not for WHO we eventually gotten, but you can make a convincing argument against your own prospects.Hell how many times has Reyes been written off as someone we should trade before he really becomes an oft-injured "never was" Turns out that was just a crummy year all around
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Maine actually pitched well, IMHO. He was....how do you say....lights out....for the first four. The problem is he got tired. And I don't blame him. He's just coming off an injury and all.
