Congratulations, and a big frosty mug of Schaefer beer, to May's player of the month: CARLOS BELTRAN.

This is Beltran's first time as winner of this prestigious award. Last month's winner, Tom Glavine, finished fourth this month, bringing to an end two streaks: two consecutive months as Player of the Month and three consecutive months as the leading pitcher. May's second place finisher, Pedro Martinez, is the Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month. This is Pedro's fifth time as Pitcher of the Month. He won in each of the first four months of the 2005 season. He has yet to win the overall Player of the Month award.

David Wright also had a strong month, finishing in third place, between Martinez and Glavine.

Reminder: If you want to review previous voting totals, or crunch your own numbers with the results, check out the CPF Schaefer Voting Results.

We should find a way to let him know. I think he would enjoy that.

Ok. Fess up. Who gave Lima points?

Well, he earned his points on May 7. (see http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/rawdata.php?year=2006 )

If you dig up the voting thread for that game (from the POTG archives forum) you'll be able to identify the culprit.

here's one for the "Some guys just know how to win" position. Pedro goes 5-0 in April and comes up short. He has a winless May and is Mets Pitcher of the month.

And who would've guessed that Jos Valentin would finish in 7th place? He's in some pretty elite company there.

And in April he barely registered.

Oliver had some clutch performances last month and Heilman & Duaner came back down to earth.

Oliver also got alot of token points in games where nobody was deserving i think
