Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 The radio guys announce that the Mets have not "publicly thought" about Saturday's pitcher, although they concede that they have certainly thought about it in private.Question: Isn't all thinking, by definition, private? Does this have something to do with elaborate avoidance of the "L" word? Wouldn't the statement convey the same thing if they'd said "The Mets say they haven't thought about Saturday's pitcher very much, but that's some kind of lie--they're obviously thinking about it a lot, but they're saying that they haven't"?
