A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I just got home and have watched the replay of the Koskie homer a few times and I'm wondering why didn't Beltran jump for that one? Look like he could've had it fairly easily for him.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Sat in the right field bleachers for this game. A lot more fun out there with some very enthusiastic Brewers fans. Actually I was impressed by the Milwaukee fans who seem very attentive to the game (I think I've been to too many games at Fenway in recent years with all the yuppies who drive up ticket prices so they can talk on their cellphones, bounce beach balls and sing "Sweet Caroline" but not really watch the game). The area is called Jenkins Jungle so there were guys with inflatable monkeys and parrots for the jungle effect. The game was sold out and the atmosphere was electric almost like a playoff game. Of course part of the attraction was Derrick Turnbow bobblehead night. I've never even heard of Turnbow before but he's very popular in Milwaukee I think mostly for his long hippie hair. The dolls actually had real hair and Turnbow said it looked better than his own hair in a pre-game interview. Of course, Turnbow lost the game so MLB teams should take note that it's bad luck to have a player appear in a game on his own bobblehead day.I had a pretty clear view of Fielder's pole ball and it was a home run. I don't think the players, umps or even the TV camera's had as clear view as the fans in the bleachers. If it had hit below the wall the fence itself would have obstructed my view but I clearly saw it hit off the pole. So I begrudgingly give the umps props for getting that call right. Now running Sanchez out of the game was total bullshit. There were actually monitors in the stands, I guess for people who did not want to watch the game in front of them but wanted to watch it on TV. Oddly the feed was from SNY not the Brewers station. In the bleachers there is open betting on the sausage race and a Brewers fan invited me to join a foursome for $1. I took the Bratwurst and in a flash of green leiderhosen Bratty broke the finish line and I took $3 off some Brewers fans. "You let the Mets fans bet?!?" shouted one of the guys friends as he begrudgingly forked over a dollar.Another fun night with a much better result. Miller Park is fun place to watch a game (although the concourse more closely resembles a mall than a stadium) and Milwaukee is actually a really nice city.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Another fun fact about this game: all 9 players in the Mets starting lineup scored one run each.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
