DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 WHEN: Wednesday 26 April 1235 PSTWHERE: AT&T Park (for the record, I've seen the Giants play home games in four "different" parks now--Candlestick, PacBell, SBC, and now this-)Note to Mets fans: you can forget about SHEA getting any sort of play in new stadium-- there was a cry to commemorate Croix-de-Candlestick in the new SF ballfield a few years back, but guess what-- not even a Garilc Fry stand carries that name, as EVERYTHING has a corporate sponsor)WHO: The Doc Tees-- me, wife and two daughters (5 yrs and 9 mos.)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 ]Note to Mets fans: you can forget about SHEA getting any sort of play in new stadium-- I watched Jeff Wilpon on SNY the other night saying that Bill Shea will be honoured at the new stadium, in what way is not yet known, but a concourse or something like will be named after him...EDIT - enjoy the game with your family DocTee.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 I'll believe it when I see it-- here's hoping he's true to his word, since Shea was--and is--deserving of appreciation and recognition.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I think there should be a fan movement to call it "Shea Stadium" no matter what its official name is.Just like "Avenue of the Americas" never managed to stick; it continued to be called Sixth Avenue. Let's all refer to Citibank Park as Shea Stadium.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 It's Preparation-H Stadium, damn it.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Candlestick was named after Candlestick Point where the park was built. Wouldn't make sense in the Giants new stadium to name anything Candlestick.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Of course they're still calling it 'Madison Square Garden' about 5 buildings after it was actually located at Madison Square.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Saturday, May 6th against the Braves. 1:10 PM. I'm counting the hours.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I was going to start a new thread until I found this buried on page five.I'm making my first two trips to Shea this week. Thursday, May 4 vs. the Pirates, my daughter and I take advantage of her free "Mets Fan Club for Kids" tickets. On Friday, I'm seeing the Braves with a few buddies.Hopefully double good times.

I can set my sights on Sunday instead, but the thought of John Maine doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation either.
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I'm going to attempt Philly next Wednesday. Sucks that the Mets are once again without a weekend trip down there.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I'll miss you by a day SI - I'm going on Thursday.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 i might be there Weds. or Thurs. vs. Shitsburgh
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I should have been clearer - I'll be at the game Thursday the 11th in Philly.JD - are you going to that game, or this week's game at Shea?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Shea this week.I think YSG should go Saturday -- and Sunday too, if he wants.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Bumpy.Great nite for a game, looks like. Mezz 10 boxes, having one of those aluminum beer bottlecans.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Have a good time, wave to the Pirates announcers
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Did they implement some new policy last year where the ushers aren't allowed to accept bribes to give you better seats?I've been doing that for twenty years with no problem, then last year I got the "I could lose my job" bullshit for the first time at Shea. The first time it happened I figured it was just that particular usher being a weenie, but then it happened at two other games too.Elster88 wrote:Saturday, May 6th against the Braves. 1:10 PM. Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I'll be at Citizens Bank on Thursday, weather permitting.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 BumpIs anyone else going to Philly tonight?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 We just bought tickets to see the B-Mets in Trenton on the Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend. Is anyone else going to be there?
Guest ABG Guests Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 So going to the game on Saturday, have a random question.Since the Sunday game is at night, would there be a problem with leaving my car in the lot (or under the overpass) till the next afternoon if I wanted to go out in the city? Do they tow?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 ABG wrote:Since the Sunday game is at night, would there be a problem with leaving my car in the lot (or under the overpass) till the next afternoon if I wanted to go out in the city? Do they tow?I don't think they'll let you leave it in the lot. Under the overpass might not get you towed but I wouldn't recommend it.What I would recommend would be parking your car in the city on Saturday morning. Depends on the area, of course, but there are plenty of safe places to leave a car overnight on the street. A little persistence pays off (plus, a Saturday morning is a good time to be looking). Read the signs carefully, but there isn't a whole lot of street cleaning going on, so you should be fine in most areas.Park it there, take the subway to the game.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Leave it under the parkway and you may return to this ...
Guest sharpie Guests Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Going to the game tomorrow (Thursday) with my work. They go to a baseball game every year and this is the first Met game in the last 3 or 4 seasons. I've been boycotting the yearly MFY games but I'll be in Section 5 of the upper deck tomorrow.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Just bought my tickets for Mikey's return on August 8th. Inner Loge Reserved (I know that technically there is no Inner Loge Reserved, but it's Loge Reserved behind one of the Inner Loge Boxes.) Row B. I got these for a song (Don't Cry) so I may end up selling them if I can find better seats by the game.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Catching 2 today, my first game(s) of the season.Nature permitting.
apmorris Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Tuesday & Wednesday @ Dodger Stadium (dont forget: come late, leave early)
