Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Woodward and Castro playing means that Zambrano is the last Met who broke camp with the team to make his '06 debut.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Diaz batting 8th?I thought if you have a good-hitting, poor fielding LFer, you tried to get him the most at bats before you take him out of the game for defense..
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 Flip-flop him with Castro maybe, but I don't see where else to bat him.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 There's something about the host of Mets Kids Clubhouse that bothers me. I'm sure she's very sweet, but she doesn't seem all that knowledgeable.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Ugh. I'll be in Alaska on July 8. I guess I end up missing this one.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 You don't think Diaz 2nd and Woodward 8th makes sense? No game? Shit, I structured my entire day around a three hour break right here. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 I'll take whichever has the higher OBP second...I'm not sure who that is.One rainout already. Key for the all-important tiebreaker in the Met Predictions.

Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Amazing how some managers insist on having a second baseman in the lineup.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Rainout Theater - SNY is showing the repeat of last night's game. It was a fun game to attend, and I'm enjoying being able to watch the broadcast.

Those two, with atrocious OBPs and few other offensive virtues, batted second in the order in most of last season's games. I think most of us here saw that that wasn't working long before Willie did (if he ever did). When Kaz comes back, let's see if he bats him in the 2 hole or the 8 hole. I'm betting 2, I'm hoping 8. What makes me somewhat optimistic that Kaz will bat 8 is Willie's stubbornness--he's committed publicly to batting Lo Duca 2 and it often takes quite a bit to move WWSB off his chosen policy.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Kaz Matsui2005: 1st, 2 games. 2nd, 41 games. 8th, 20 games. 9th, 1 game. Miguel Cairo2005: 2nd, 55 games. 7th, 1 game. 8th, 25 games. Looks like Bret is basically right. Cairo and Matsui each were in the 1 or 2 slot for a little over 2/3 of their starts. If all of the starts in the eighth slot were at the end of the season, that would show Willie learned as the year went on. I don't know if that's the case; I remember Cameron starting in the two spot in the lineup for some time after he came back from his injury early in the season.
