Who is the ballplayer you never saw, but wish you had?

And

Who is the ballplayer you saw, and wish you hadn't?

I would have like to have seen Joe DiMaggio play.

I can't really think of anyone that I wish I hadn't seen, but I'll keep thinking.

In the spirit of the World Baseball Classic, Sadaharu Oh. And Babe Ruth.

I know, I know, he's a motherfucking Yankee, but he was also the best slugger ever.

Mantle in his prime.

Lolich after he came to the Mets or
Carlton after he left the Phils.

So many great players I wish I had the opportunity to see, if only I had been born. Impossible to choose just one. I guess I would go with Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Satchel Paige.

I'm with mole, I wish I had never seen Vince Coleman as a Met.

Sandy Koufax
I actually did see him pitch at Shea -- the last regular season game where he had to be relieved.

I would have loved to have seen Ty Cobb.

I'm sorry I saw Don Hahn.

I'm glad to have seen The Mick, Clemente, all the Miracle Mets - especially Koosman, the Big Red Maching guys, etc.

Sorry to have seen Nino Espinoza and Dave Schneck

Babe Ruth. Anthony Young.

I imagine they would have lost just as many games without Anthony Young.

I was there for the record-setting (or tying, I can't remember) loss. Traumatic experience. Didn't go back to Shea until Piazza's first home series.

So EDGY, which two players would you name?

And Mole, I saw Satchel Paige. (But I was too young to appreciate it.)

Welcome Ashtray Jim.
It will only last for a while.
Now, get those bats back into the rack.

Babe Ruth

David Cone on July 4, 2000. Coney was always my favorite player but on that day he literally seemed to have lost the ability to pitch and he was booed off the mound in Yankee Stadium. It was painful to watch and I wish I hadn't been there. (I know that wasn't exactly what the question asked but it was the first thing that came to mind).
