Until he is, I'm keeping him on the 25 as the second lefty in the pen.Five free agents remain. The Mets haven't resigned any (and are highly unlikely to).Sanchez sure doesn't seem to have a look that's going to fly with the Yankees. I mean the Mets. MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Just got back.I had to go out of town for a funeral - my dad's last surviving sibling - his sister. She would have been 89 today. May she rest in Peace.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Sorry to hear it.I hope the Mets win one for her.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Pouring over the wires: the Cairo deal has been finalized.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Announced today:http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060105&content_id=1291692&vkey=pr_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 It seems that Donald Trump took less time to select an apprentice than it took for that deal to be finalized.Later
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 The free agents can't possibly come back until May, right?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 What about the other guy in the Seo trade, Steve Schmoll? Never mind, I see him in the 40.Do we know if they're going with six relievers or seven?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Isn't it Tejeda, not Tejada?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 You say Tejeda, and I say Tejada, Tejeda, Tejada, Tejada, Tejeda, let's call the whole thing off...

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Now you saw that coming, didn't you Elster? We'll double check on the Tejeda-Tejada conundrum. I'm sticking six reievers in there right now because, as far as know, only four batters have options --- Reyes, Matsui, Wright, and Diaz --- and none of them are likely to go down to make way for reliever number seven. Diaz could go down for one, but I don't think the information we have now projects that. What I fear more is that Tike Redman perhaps having no options, and therefore getting carried over Diaz. That would be unfortunate.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I think my first question got lost in the shuffle. Is it possible for any of the free agents to be brought back to the team before May (or whatever month is in the rule)?Edgy DC wrote:Now you saw that coming, didn't you Elster?Good point. Your guideline rings true in this example.________________________This post had the designation 87) Todd Zeile
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I think no (regarding the May question), but I'm not closing the books on them until I hear that they're signed elsewhere or announce a retirement or something.Although I did close the books on Ishii upon his release, so sue me. I'm just looking for a more complete severence --- closure, if you will.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I play it pretty much the same way when I record the comings and goings on the UMDB.There's no exit for Piazza and the others yet, even though the Mets have severed the connection. There's still the extremely unlikely possibility that they'll resign with the Mets on or after May 1.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I'm all for keeping the pictures up, too. Just wanted to be sure that my understanding of the rules was correct. I always muck them up.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Some days, I log on and Piazza seems to have more beard than the day before. It's strange
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ]What I fear more is that Tike Redman perhaps having no options, and therefore getting carried over Diaz. That would be unfortunate.couldn't Redman be carried over Chavez? They fulfill the same function: LHed CFer.I'd really like to see Heath Bell get a serious look. If he outpitches Bradford and Padilla (and the other RHed middle guys), he should get the job.pen (6):WagnerHeilmanSanchezBellRH - Padilla? Bradford? Parra? shmoll? wylie? fortunato?LH - Ring? Oliver? Feliciano? Perisho?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Basically, I don't see Chavez or Redman as having options (thougth I've been surprised before) and I suspect the Mets will deal one of Chavez, Redman, or Diaz before camp breaks.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 They gave Bradford $1.4 million. He's on the 25.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I had figured that Bradford was slotted for the 8th inning spot, which left me all the more perplexed at the "need" for Sanchez.
