Once again, we travel to our nation's capital, where the Washington Nationals will take on your New York Mets. A quick look at the matchups:

Fri 9/23 NYM (Trachsel) @ WAS (Loaiza) 7:05 pm
In Loaiza's last start against the Mets, he gave up seven hits and three runs in seven innings, getting the W at Shea on September 14.

Sat 9/24 NYM (Glavine) @ WAS (Hernandez) 7:05 pm
The Metsies smacked Livan around pretty good last time around at Shea, but the Natxpos pulled out the victory when Braden Looper blew a save (gasp!) and Roberto Hernandez lost it in the tenth.

Sun 9/25 NYM (Benson) @ WAS (Patterson) 1:05 pm
Patterson missed the last series with the flu, but he leads the Nats with 174 Ks, which is good for eleventh in the NL. He's also fifth in the NL with a 2.80 ERA in 2005. He lost his last time out, giving up five runs in seven innings to the Giants.

Who's Hot?
Cristian Guzman. No, that's not a typo; he's up to .211 on the season, going 18-for-53 (.340) since August 31. He even has a six-game hitting streak.

Unfortunatly, not too many people. Both teams are out of the playoff hunt for '05.

September Callups for the Nats:
IF Ryan Zimmerman is the Nats' first-round draft pick this year. He's 8-for-21 since coming up on September 1.
IF Rick Short is 6-for-13 since his coming up from his near-.400 minor league season.
OF Brandon Watson is 6-for-32 on the season. The speedy youngster had 38 SB in the minors in '05.
OF Kenny Kelly is a former Red, former Met minor-leaguer, and former University of Miami football player. He's 4-for-11 on the season.
RP Travis Hughes is 1-0, 3.60 in 10 innings in '05.
RP Darrell Rasner is 0-1, 5.79 in 5.2 innings in '05.
C Keith Osik is a Port Jefferson, NY native and former Pirate who is 0-for-2 on the season. His last major league home run came on 7/29/03 off Met Dan Wheeler.
