here is how i won the hdtv:

during the game one time a few weeks ago they put that message on the screen that says : "text message your first and last name to this number and have a chance to win an hdtv". so i did. then a few days later i watchig the game again and they put four names up on the screen, and mine was one of them. it said "if you are the first of these four to call this number, you win an mp3 player, and a 1 in 24 at an hdtv." so i called, and i was firt, so i won some sort of mp3 player. and then the same thing happened again for 23 other people during met and liberty games on MSG.

and then they drew for the grand prize, which of course i won.

i like to pretend i am not excited, BUT THIS RULES! FREE HDTV YEAH!

In the words of Peter Griffin...

"Freakin' Sweet!"

Congrats again.

Zambrano only has allowed 4 hits so far.

Woodward gets his hit!

This IS a perfect night.

I wanna use that term I used the other night that rhymes with gaffer but I will refrain.

A great day for the Mets on multiple fronts, a great week for a few CPFers as well... the start of something?

no it dont Tucker.

Zambrano scatters 6 hits, Bell ks 2 in his perfect 9th.

Some much needed great pitching last 2 days.
Mets whipped out their whuppin sticks and did some ball whuppin.

Cant wait to see the highlights on ESPN.

Rotblatt - "Pity. This would be a perfect spot for Graves."

I had the same thought reading through the remainder of this thread. I hope the team saved some offense for tonight. They must be tired from the merry go round they were riding around the bases last night.

What a fun read at the start of a work day.

I hope that 30+ years from now, baseball historians will be mentioning Wally Pipp and Doug Mientkiewicz in the same sentence.
I can dream, can't I?

Later

Edit - my brain and my fingers weren't in synch

martin - I had already moved from the room with the computer to the bedroom when I saw your name on tv, but I told D-Dad, "That's a Crane Pooler who won!"

Congrats! Like cooby said, we're all watching the World Series at your place <g>

Every time I read another article about yesterday's game I get more excited...not about the 2005 playoff implications, but for the team as a whole in the future. From the Daily News:

]The Mets' sudden youth moment - four players 24 or younger - set the tone as Victor Diaz and Jose Reyes each contributed RBI triples in a four-run second inning, rookie Mike Jacobs swatted a two-run homer in the fifth and David Wright scored three times before Diamondbacks starter Claudio Vargas (7-7) departed.

And we got anudder young'un who has rediscovered himself pitching tonight. Actually, though, I sometimes forget that Seo isn't that young.

In any event, it's an exciting time to be a Met fan.

Maybe before I die I'll get to see another young Met promoted to MLB stardom on the basis of ability, and not injury-motivated desperation (or picked up by another team). You'd think someone would have the brains to recognize talent, and the balls to act on it.

I've only got a few more decades left (schlepping this cross is TOUGH!) so maybe not.

What about David Wright? Why was he promoted if not for his ability?

Because of his matinee idol good looks and his Hollywood smile. Duh!
