Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17 Posted April 17 They don't deserve to win in these unis. You're the Cubs. You are at home, at Wrigley, and you have a classic home white look. Show some self-respect.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17 Posted April 17 "Benge trying to go to left again." On an inside pitch? As a lefty sluggerino, with a runner on second with no force on him? Let's pretend we've been coached, guys.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Perhaps the most predictable GiDP in history.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 17 Posted April 17 There are some positives to take from this game. It was during work hours so I didn’t burn 3 hours of free time. didn’t have to stay up late. All good signs.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 17 Posted April 17 So we go from 10 pm all week to Friday afternoon games and we’re supposed to notice? 🤦♀️ though I guess the thread title was a clue. my brother and I played that song endlessly back in the day

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I'm pretty detached from this team. I know they were out west and I am typically in bed well before 10:15, but I just plain blanked on this 2:20 game time. I remembered at about 6:15 that I had missed the entire thing and I'm OK with it. metirish 1
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I think going forward for the next home stand many fans will be detached from this team.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18 Posted April 18 When I look at the main index, this thread shows as "Waiting For The" and I mentally want to finish it as "Robert E. Lee". Later whippoorwill 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Wrong song. 'Waiting for the break of day' is the opening line in the song 25 or 6 to 4 by the band ... wait for it ... CHICAGO! It also alluded to the fact that, following not only three night games but three late ones from the west coast, this series was to consist of three mid-afternoon games. And then it came close to working on a third level as 25 or 6 to 4 looked like a strong possibility for the final score there for a while in Game 1 (the 4 part was correct) until the Cubs stopped trying to tack on more runs out of both boredom and a desire not to miss their dinner reservations.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Holy heck this thread's been moved already so nobody 15 hours ago, Frayed Knot said: Wrong song. Holy heck this thread has been moved already so nobody will see this. Oh well, just in case... My brother and I played 25 or 6 to 4 constantly. Eventually, the very last note, a loooonnnng trumpet blast, got a skip in it. So, the very long trumpet blast would go on virtually forever. We'd be helpless on the floor laughing until one of us would eventually get up and move the needle and put the poor trumpet player out of his misery....
