Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Not sure how they're going to fit the entire population of Nicaragua in that dinky stadium, but I'm sure it will be fun watching over 7 million people take at-bats. I've been told if you hear gunfire in the hills, that's the Sandinistas and you should seek refuge. Also, I'm pretty sure Dusty Baker is managing the team.Discuss.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 According to the Mets schedule it is. No probable starters listed yet, though. We shall find out tomorrow I guess.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Which team is Mark Vientos playing for? This is supposedly going down today, as soon as they get the field dry, with Vientos playing for Nicaragua.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 So it's former Met Erasmo Ramirez vs. current Met Jonah Tong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 For those opposed to this tournament, it is a minor blessing that Jonah Tong isn't pitching for Canada today in their exhibition against the Blue Jays. It's a blessing for The Jays, too, as Canada is losing 2-0.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I assume this is a pre-WBC exhibition game?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 It is.Tong got taken deep for a solo homer by Nicaragua infielder Freddy Zamora.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Mets up 2-1! I'm giddier than a schoolgirl!

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Game tied 2-2 :-(Now I'm crankier than a retiree in a HOA!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 MLB Gameday.https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nicaragua-vs-mets/2026/03/03/831434/live Thanks!Tong gave up 5H in 2.2 IP. Not great.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Barring an onslaught of injuries, I'm pretty certain that Tong will get at least a couple of months in Syracuse to get his stuff together.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Kevin Parada might never live up to that 1st round billing :-(Mets up 5-2 now, though. No walks by Mets pitchers yet, too.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Phenom and future superstar Chris Suero hits a home run!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Craig Kimbrel still not getting it together, giving up three hits and a run in his lone inning of work.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Nicaragua goes down in the ninth! Save for Jefry Yan!!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 All three of Yan's outs were strikeouts.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Phenom and future superstar Chris Suero hits a home run! Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Good thing Yan racked up a couple of Ks because he's a bit shy on F's
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Bummer that this game wasn't on TV You could have watched from Nicaragua, I bet.
