Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Heading into today, the Mets rank 17th among MLB teams (8th among NL teams) in runs scored. The bullpen upgrades are great, but this is where the most meaningful upgrades will happen.I’d like to see Brandon Lowe and Ramon Laureano as Mets before the day is over. Thanks, Stearns!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Not sure about Laureano.Lowe, might be a better fit. (lefty hitter).I've seen many stories linking the Mets to Oriole's CF Cedric Mullins, who also bats lefty.Later
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 Yeah, I don’t think Mullins (or Robert) is the answer here.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Where do we need Better offense? 1B no2B Better than Baty's potential? Not really.SS no3B Better than Mauricio/Vientos' upside? Noc Better than Alvarez? Is any such young catcher available? No.RF NoCF Better than McNeil? NoLF noDH Sure, but who doesn't? So other than making a utility player/DH out of Baty, McNeil, or Mauricio, I don't see it.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Heyman says Cedric Mullins remains a possibility but that Luis Robert is a longshot
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Do we want Steven Kwan? I kinda do
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 If The Price is Right, then yes.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 Do we want Steven Kwan? I kinda do Yes, we do
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Do we want Steven Kwan? I kinda do Yes, we do Kwan isn't a centerfielder. If they get him, which corner outfielder would he replace?Good player, no Mets fit.Later
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 (edited) Give him Winker's job, problem solvedyou find room for a guy like that Edited July 31, 2025 by Johnny Lunchbucket
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 Mets have plenty of room to upgrade at DH, for one. And Nimmo can play center if needed.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 You know who will make room for Kwan? The Phillies, that's who
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 2 minutes to get better
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 DiComo says Mets are done
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 That's disappointing, I don't know much about Mullins , but I trust you guys here and several of you don't like that move, he better rake
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 They got two really good bullpen armsI know some of you like Mullins but I don't see it. Jeff won't have to play CF anyway Mets are putting quite a bit of faith in our 3BAll in all I'm disappointed
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 The Athletic reported today that the Mets were one of the teams with the most interest in Byron Buxton but were told that he would not waive his no-trade clause and wanted to remain with Minnesota.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 On cue Byron Buxton is on the IL
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 On cue Byron Buxton is on the IL Great talent. Hurt far too often. He seems to spend 35-40% of each season on the IL.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Buxton made his MLB debut in 2015. Since that time he has appeared in 100 games of more only twice. Most seasons he appears in 85-95 games. He would have been a huge improvement in CF, at least when he could actually suit up.
