Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 Every season, the Mets get enough starting pitchers to knock him back to seventh or eighth on the depth charts, and sometimes injuries conspire to open a door for him. Sometimes he performs well in these opportunities, and sometimes he doesn't. Either way, the chapter tends to end with the Mets pushing him back through that same door. But opportunity has a arisen again, and the hero of Opening Day 2022, and the starting pitcher in the Mets' second-ever no-hitter (didn't remember that, did you?), is still hanging around. Somehow, he still has an option, but the chances are running thin. Will he have the punch to climb over the Griffin Cannings and Frankie Montas the Mets have indifferent set up in front of him? To climb over them and stay?Surely you know the answer. Because there are a wave of people trying to climb over him as well.[FIMG=350]https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/09/tylor-megill-mets-subway-series.jpg?resize=744[/FIMG] [FIMG=350]http://cdn.chatsports.com/thumbnails/280-74696-original.jpeg[/FIMG][FIMG=352]https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/04/Tylor-Megill-2.jpg?quality=75&strip=all[/FIMG] [FIMG=348]https://static01.nyt.com/images/2022/05/01/multimedia/29kepner-mets-megill2/29kepner-mets-megill2-superJumbo.jpg?quality=75&auto=webp[/FIMG]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 I'd probably have given him a chance over some of the guys they brought in to start. But when given the chance long term, he always seems to spit the bit. I'm not sure if, or when, he will get it together. He'll go 6-8 4.42 both starting and relieving.Later
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 I kinda liked him as a big hard-throwing reliever
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Last year was a step up, if you can believe it. I think he'll be their go-to fill-in for injured guys, going 4-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 8 starts, then he'll get traded in July.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 I believe Momma Megill will be happy, and we will see more of her at Mets games
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Fifteen starts, mostly decent.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 I like my Tylord and he is probably as good as he is going to be a this pointHe has not turned into the horse I thought he might but the Mets just need him to be decent and that seems likely Megill goes deep into a game with the Yankees or Dodgers and comes out with a win and 10 plus K's
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Guys what if Tylor Megill is good
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 5, 2025 Author Posted April 5, 2025 His managers and pitching coaches have seemingly always believed he was good.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 He's probably not.It's been two games.
