Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 10 Posted September 10 So the most unusual part about this series -- especially considering it's: September, the Subway Series, and a 9/11 Anniversary -- is that all three games are being carried by local TV!! So no FOX, no FS1, no Apple+, no SNB, no ESPN, no NBC/Peacock or whatever other platforms they're farming stuff out to these days. That's probably happened before but not often. Friday: 7:05, PIX -- Saturday: 1:35, SNY -- Sunday: 1:35, SNY (quite possible that Friday's first pitch is delayed somewhat with 9/11-related ceremonies) The plan is to start our Kiddie Corps [McLean, Scott, Thornton] against (most likely) the Yanx' 'Big Three' of Cole, Rodon, and Schlittler (in one order or another) although nothing has been formerly announced from Yaqui-land as of yet so I suppose it's possible we'll see Lindy McDaniel instead. Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Would be nice to play spoiler and help Tampa.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I will definitely watch tonight LGM
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I don't even remember the first series
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Mets took two of three. The third and deciding game was the stunning Tyrone Taylor Game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 I barely remember them either. Game 1 - Fri May 15: Mets got Schlittler'd upon plus a rare bad start by Clay Holmes. Mets manage only single runs in the 7th & 9th -- 5 -2 Yanx Game 2: Mets force Carlos Rodon into throwing 88 pitches thru 3-2/3. David Peterson, coming in behind a Brazoban start, gets one of his final 'W' as a Met. 6 - 3 Mets Game 3: Tyrone Taylor's 9th inning/2 out 3R HR off David Bednar ties the game at 6. Devin Williams gets a GiDP in the 10th to strand the ghost runner. Carson Benge gets a one-out RBI FC grounder despite a five-man IF to win it. 7 - 6 Mets

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 The RH-heavy lineup you see is because lefty Carlos Rodon will tonight's starter. This will be his fifth start following about seven weeks on the IL. He's been pitching reasonably well but not all that long, 4 to 5 innings generally either out of caution or somewhat high pitch counts/inning. Rodon usually doesn't give up a lot of hits (lowest in MLB in '25) but his walk rates are up this year as are his pitch counts. ashie62 1
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I've lost almost all interest in the Mets although that could change if Rutgers gets blown out tonight
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 McLean not sharp at all. Can't pitch behind in the count in The Bedpan.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 11 Posted September 11 This fell asunder quickly, 3 run HR Bellenger
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Never really used to the Yankees having a good shortstop.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I could get used to the Mets having a good rightfielder.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Ronnie reports Lombard comes out of Gulliver Prep in Pinecrest, FL. If their nickname isn't something along the lines of The Travelers, then they should just fold their tent.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Posted September 12 wtf Mets. The whole year sucks. You could at least win on 9-11. Also McLean is annoying. 3 balls on every batter. He needs to sack up and establish his fastball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 WFAN basketball team back in the day. Mike Francesa coaching.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 A lot of futile swinging for the fences by the Metzgers.

Russo bottom left, ???, Dave Sims (now NYY radio voice), looks familiar but not sure. ??? next to Francesa, is that Dave Jennings?, Mike Breen, Eddie Coleman, ???, and John Minko (team manager?) on the far right.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 This has been the most uninteresting Met/Yanqui game ever ... and yet it's not out of reach even though it feels like we've never been in the game.

That was exactly what the Tyrone Taylor game was like until Tyrone Taylor. It'd be nice to get to Paul Blackburn here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 They've sure gotten to him — and now chased him — but I'd sure like to get more than one point out of this.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 How unusual for a Yanqui fan to act out. I agree with TV not showing him ... right up until security starts pummeling him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 What a time for an idiot on the field incident. Lindor chased outside the zone twice there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 7th inning stretch at YSIII ... game should resume in about 20 minutes or so.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Posted September 12 His first swing was at a ball too. Terrible AB.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Going to Weisenberger for a second inning felt like a white flag, but landed like a yellow hammer.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Nice outing by Weisenheimer.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 The Yanks need two more Juniors in their infield.
