ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 The media made such a fuss about the Braves comeback yesterday that they almost failed to mention that the Mets in fact won Maybe Fred Peralta can put it all together today, he's certainly due LGM whippoorwill 1

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6 Posted July 6 The problem last night began with lifting Brooks Raley after eight pitches. It all cascades from there.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 We might see another former Met with the Braves tonight, as they recently selected Jose Azocar to join the active roster.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Wake the kids and phone the neighbors. There's a Met game tonight. AJ Ewing is back in the leadoff spot, and Ronny Mauricio is being deployed, knocking Francisco Lindor to the DH role. METS Starting Pitcher Freddy Peralta RHP 5-7, 4.81 ERA, 92 SO NYM Lineup A.J. ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 I don't want to see Freddy Hang'em high and often tonight
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Who is Bichette's ABS advisor ... Vientos? That was one of the worst challenges to date. But Benge just went oppo as I was typing so all is right with the world again.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 Carson Benge. Waiting for some idiot to suggest trading him
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 Freddy Peralta being shafted by the Mets defense
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Another non-error that hits a fielder in his glove. Young at 1B in this case. And of course the error results in multiple two out runs. Two so far, and who knows how many more. btw, I have a theory I can't possibly prove. But it's one of those "it seems like" situations that is contributing to the 'everything going wrong' '26 NYM season. So it goes like this: every ball the Mets hit off a fielder, particularly come-backers, ricochet either back to the pitcher or to another fielder for an out. Yet hits banking off NYM pitchers or fielders always go for hits. Can't prove a bit of that, but I'm convinced it's true. Braves have five hits thru two innings tonight: two off NYM fielders and one bloop.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 The 1978 Mets could likely take a best of seven from the Mets crew
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 How can any pitcher look good on this Mets team metirish 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Wow. The Mets defense is again pretty porous as Young boots a ground ball. Ruled a hit, by the official scorer but it was an error all the way. Hitters must love the official scorer at Truist. Just like the routine pop up off Taylor's glove the other night was ruled a triple. Now the official scorer has (rightfully) changed his ruling to an error on Young's botched ground ball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Mets need to play with a rover in the short outfield.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 Carson Benge doesn't know the season is toast
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Sometimes, watching Peralta feels like he has money on the Braves.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Carson Benge is now tied for second on the club in home runs.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Yet another defensive miscue by the Mets. The official scorer again calls a Mets botched catch a hit. I don't even know why I watch anymore.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Just a terrible send. I think we have the worst 3B coach I’ve ever seen.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 The Braves demonstrating this inning what it looks like for a team to actually play solid defense.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 We’d be tied right now if not for that send.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 Jeremy Hefner lands with a very good team
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Lettuce not lose hope, it's looking promising now.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Mets are only 11.5 games back in the wild card right now.
