Clay Holmes ® vs. Eury Perez ®

-Holmes to be backed up by…someone. My vote is to use David Peterson as the “piggyback” after Holmes (figuring that Peterson probably will only go one turn through the order.

(Since Sunday's game is guaranteed to matter if the Mets want to play more this year, I'd go with an opener followed by Manaea in that game).

-Assuming Baty can't go, Vientos should be at third with Marte at DH. Best offensive players have to be in there since we shouldn't be expecting a Johan Santana-style two-hit shutout here (17 years ago to the day).

-Brewers/Reds isn't until 7:15.

Add this as an example of why I want Mendoza gone - his lineup decisions.

Well, if he's in fact making them and not some front office AI

machination that thinks Mauricio is the greatest thing since sliced

bread today and must play!!

(watch, he'll go 3-4 today with a ding dong)

He might. Lately I've been reverse jinxing - when I say someone's terrible, they do something good.

Yeah, we all have done something sometime. But yesterday, he blew the game by going up against a pitcher who wasn't throwing strikes and liberally chasing garbage outside the strike zone with the bases loaded. His previous game, he cost the team two unearned runs with a throwing error.

Ronny Mauricio, meanwhile, is 1-for-1 lifetime, with a walk, in two MLB plate appearances vs. Eury Peréz.

If we can make an argument for or against anybody if we limit the information to only what supports our argument.

For what? Looking at a good pitch and flinging his bat?

I call the days when he does that "game days."
