MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Seeing Pop, who was born in Canada, made me think of an off day trivia question.Three Canadian pitchers have appeared in the same major league game for the same team only once.Who were they? What was the team they pitched for?extra credit: What was the year?Later
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 The problem with me and Canadian players is every time I try to think of one I just think of Expos.I have no chance at this question. The only actual Canadian pitcher I know is Eric Gagne. So I'll guess that he was one of the pitchers. The team, the Dodgers. Year, 2001.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 There's Ferguson Jenkins. He's the only one I could think of.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Author Posted July 7, 2025 Fergie and Eric were both Canadian, but neither was part of the answer to this question.Later

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 What about Paul Quantrill? He pitched for a bunch of teams.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 Still no winners.Hint: you may find some help in the UMDB.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 Another hint: at least one of the pitchers was a Met.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 Ron Taylor???I know he ended up in Toronto, but I'm not sure if he's a Canadian.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 That's one of the pitchers.Later
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 Rob Zastryzny was a brief Canadian Met, but I don't think he pitched enough to qualify for any trivia.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 Nope.Another hint: Ben Grimm has the right era,Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 Another hint: another of the pitchers was a Met during part of his career.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 In absence of any requests for an answer, here it is:Ron Taylor, Ken Mackenzie (The other ex-Met) and Claude Raymond appeared in the same game for the Houston Astros in 1965.I remember seeing a picture of the three of them holding up a (then new) maple leaf Canadian flag.Thank you for playing. Ben, you can pick up your box of Rice-A-Roni at the front desk.Later
